Thanks for the offer! Anyway, my questions: what's The Novel about? Is The Historicals a story set earlier in that world, or is it something completely different?

The Novel is the novel I'm co-writing with aella_irene. It takes place in a sort of alterna-Earth; the setting can best be summed up as "Georgian pseudo-Austria/Germany". It's nonmagical fantasy, taking place in the kingdom of Ingvar. Top secret information is leaking out of the palace, and no one knows how. Lara Vittore, an officer of the Royal Ingvari Army, is taken off regular duty as a captain in the 100th Irregular Regiment (under fire from the War Office for reasons of expenditure) and attached to the Intelligence Division. She's sent undercover in the seedy underbelly of Angrenny City, where the information coming out of the palace is being filtered through The Golden Tree, an upper-class brothel that caters to Ingvar's nobility. Meanwhile, Princess Theresia Amalia von Ingvar, heir to the throne, meets a woman named Loredana Elahi while slumming in Angrenny's poorer districts, and the two strike up a relationship that soon turns sexual and emotional. Neither one knows that the other is hiding her true identity, and while their relationship is reaching a feverpoint, an unknown enemy of Ingvar is plotting the nation's downfall.

The Historicals are various bits of Ingvari history that aella_irene and I are playing with when we're not working on The Novel -- we have everything from the origin of the Lady and the Saints (the main religion in Ingvar), to the Rome-equivalent, to some stuff set in the Middle Ages (the Ingvari Hamlet! and also Titus Andronicus) up to right before the novel itself starts, as well as characters and storylines that take place parallel to the events of the novel, but don't really intersect.

That sounds really cool. Are you going to post it on the internet at any point, or are you trying to get it picked up by a publisher? I'd love to read it!

We're going to try and get it picked up by a publisher, which might be hard because I am convinced it is, like, one of the least publishable things ever. There is not even any magic to endear it to the fantasy crowd! Queer characters! It is not even straight lesbians (uh, pun not intended), but then it diverges into a working threesome! Female main characters! FEMALE MAIN CHARACTER OF COLOR. (My mental casting for Lara is Sarah Shahi.)

*cough* aella_irene and I would probably disagree on which of the two mains is the lead.
