bedlamsbard: natasha romanoff from the black widow prelude comic (speed (roxybaby2414))

I am very slowly going through Dust (on DW, at the moment) and changing the chapter links from the LJ entries to the DW entries. I say "very slowly" because, holy shit, there's a lot of this. The Warsverse timeline now also links to Dust on DW.

Relating to that: would people prefer to have the Warsverse timeline linked from the Dust chapters as well, either with the chapter links at the bottom or part of the header? I ask because I've had a couple of people ask about further stories set in the Warsverse that aren't linked in the author's notes at the end of the chapters. Although the Warsverse timeline is now linked on the sidebar, along with [livejournal.com profile] houseofpevensie. (Huh, speaking of [livejournal.com profile] houseofpevensie, must speak to [personal profile] aella_irene about possibly moving it over to DW, either manually or waiting for the community import.)

I do kind of want to go back and rewrite about Dust 0-6 or so, but the likelihood of that is extremely small.

It might be a good idea to put a note in the prologue saying something along the lines of "Dust is part of the Warsverse" (with that being a link to the timeline). I don't know if you need to put it in the header of every chapter, but I don't think it's obvious to a new reader that Dust is part of a greater universe, unless they find the timeline and see it listed there.

It may also be helpful to mark out the longer, more significant Warsverse stories in some way. A new reader may want to read Dust, but feel she should read the earlier stories first, and then get intimidated off because there's so many. All the ficlets are fascinating in how you flesh out your world, but readers may find them more interesting after they've read one of the main stories, rather than before.

And, um, if it isn't too much trouble, I'd appreciate a master list of our other Narnia stories that don't fit into the Warsverse- the Peta-verse, etc. There could also be a link to and explanation of the Royal House of Pevensie AU. A link to the Pevensie Family Timeline might be more helpful than a general link to the community.

I hope you find this comment helpful, rather than troublesome- that was my intent, I swear!

This just makes me want to reread Dust. With like, pen and paper so I can make notes. :D

Oh, not very helpful. I think just in the header, not in the chapter links. Like, an author's note: "Dust is set in the Warsverse."

Yes, link at the beginning (and/or end) of the story please! You probably don't need to link every chapter, but I was definitely getting the sense reading it that there were whole novels worth of stuff I hadn't found to read. Nothing that detracted from understanding Dust, but I was sure sad after I finished it and couldn't figure out where to go!

I'll also second the comment that some indication of length would be nice on the timeline, maybe wordcount? I like knowing before I click on a story if it's going to take me two minutes or two hours to read sometimes.

Sorry I didn't get back to you earlier to tell you how much I was enjoying reading all your Narnia fic! I've gone through a lot of it though not quite all, despite being insanely busy the last few weeks. I'll maybe get a more detailed review out later (but please don't count on it and then you'll be pleasantly surprised!)
