Evan Lysacek = John Sheppard
May. 17th, 2010 11:16 pmThe dryad thing has got to go. I like it in theory, but I can't make it work in practice. Okay, I cannot make writing on the computer work in practice, argh, death. *storms around angrily* However, I have decided that all PhD programs in ancient history terrify me except for Tulane's, which is, of course, the one that I cannot do because I cannot get all my degrees from the same university (I am liking UNC-Chapel Hill, though; I am mostly looking at PhD reqs in order to know what to do with the next two or three years of my academic career and the answer is: learn Latin, Greek, German, French, Spanish, and Italian), and also the Castle finale pissed me off and I am not caught up with Lost.
I am caught up on Dancing With the Stars, though. Evan Lysacek -- is maybe not a robot! Or maybe he's just a robot who's getting better at pretending to be a human. Or maybe he's John Sheppard. I'm starting to think this is Quite Likely. "What makes you happy?" *long pause* "Coffee...cars..." Anna starts to look crazy. "...my nephew..."
However, I am not an Evan Lysacek girl, as he is a robot and I do not approve of robots (except for Athena! I approve of you, darling). I am head over heels for Nicole and Derek, they are the best thing since Apolo Ohno and Julianne! (Yes, I have been watching DWtS since the last Winter Olympics. Actually, I think possibly from the, uh, first season.) Also, what was with the ripping-off-of-clothing this episode?
Tomorrow I must bake something exciting that makes me feel like I have done something with my life, because the latest dryad fiasco is pissing me off. I want the dryad; it's not working! Also my ability to write has fled. (I'm not blocked, my actual ability to put words together into nice sentences is fantastically screwed, as the majority of my recent DW posts might also tell you.)
Also, while I'm here, can I tell y'all how much I hate dealing with recipes that involve melted butter? I hate it. I hate it, I hate it, I hate it, and I would rather cream a thousand pounds of butter than mix melted butter with -- well, anything. My mother's new favorite recipe involves multiple steps with melted butter, and I've done it twice now, and I hate the melted butter even more -- the next time I might try messing with the recipe again (last time I one-and-a-halfed the ingredients to get enough batter, gods damn all recipes that have been converted from the British; sorry, Brits) in order to get to cream the damned butter. I honestly do not care what it does to the texture at this point; it's worth it just for the experiment. And then I made cornbread, which also requires me to deal with melted butter, and argh, I hate it so, so much. I don't care that creaming involves me having to break out the mixer; I hate melted butter. Unless it's in popcorn. Then it's awesome. Mmm, popcorn. (Other things I hate: microwave popcorn. Airpopped all the way, baby!) But tomorrow -- something that does not involve melted butter. At all. Whatsoever. Perhaps I shall bake a cake!
(It has struck me that I go to the same place during baking that I used to go during writing, so...that's interesting.)
