I think Avatar may well be the worst movie I have ever seen. Visually stunning, but -- so many cliches, and horribly sexist, and racist, and anti-military, and gleefully murder porn, and I could go on, but I am trying to purge it from my brain.

The highlight of the movie was the TWO AWESOME WOMEN... who were the only characters of actual personality TO DIE OH MY GOD RAGE.

The trailer alone was giving me warning signs, but what first seriously turned me off was when someone linked to an interview James Cameron did where he talked cheerfully about adding breasts to the female aliens, even though they didn't need them for anything. I decided to never bother seeing that movie.

Everything else I've heard since has only validated that decision.

the trailers made me not want to see it and so far i've been successful in avoiding it. someone on my f-list called it the worst of dances with wolves and the worst of disney's pochahantas all mashed together with some ferngully tossed in. accurate?

Well, I don't remember Dances With Wolves or Fern Gully whatsoever, but Pocahontas was a better movie. *terribly distressed*

you really need to find a copy of Ferngully: the Last Rainforest. (imdb:http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0104254/) it's a childhood classic. dances with wolves had kevin costner in it as a white guy who joins a native tribe.
