Making dinner is exhausting. How the fuck do people do this every night? *falls over*

(I worked in extra time so dinner wouldn't be late again, like it usually is when I cook it, except this time it was half an hour early ARGH.)

My mother has gone off to Japan as of Tuesday, which means for the first two nights my dad and I ate reheated pizza and lasagna, and then tonight I went, "I shall make macaroni and cheese and chicken!" So I made macaroni and cheese (should have used cream, but we didn't have any) and cardamom honey chicken, and baked them, and then did all the (many) dishes, and then ate dinner, and now I want to fall over and die. I would have made salad, but we are out of tomatoes, but I did also make bread.

Some of us do it every night with a couple of small children hanging off us, even.

And no, it doesn't get any less tiring. Thus the success of Trader Joe's. *G*

I do up a big batch of something versatile on the weekend, like chicken cutlets, and then add sauces and sides on any given weeknight. Also planned leftovers and 3 minutes in the microwave. :) Dishes were always the problem. My next flat needs to have a dishwasher, I swear.

Answer: with much bitching! And also, as K points out (from the kitchen, where she is making ze dinner), by not making such complicated food. We, for example, are making macaroni cheese - and by adding in every vegetable we have and possibly some tuna, ONE DISH DINNER. This works with chicken too!

Eh, I make soup at the start of the month, and one dish at the start of the week. (Note: this month I'm eating to save money, and also as a temporary weight-loss measure, so it's cheap.)
