The most shocking thing I have ever heard in a college classroom:

Professor: "I've had a couple of comments on how many notes there are in this class, and I don't know what to tell you, that's just the nature of the subject."

I just -- omg, people think there are too many notes? It's a geology class! IF YOU THINK THIS IS TOO MANY NOTES, YOU SHOULD SEE A HISTORY CLASS. There is no such thing as too many notes! No one is standing over you with a sharpened pencil making you take notes! You don't even have to come to class; all the information is in the book!

I can't even make a "kids these days" comment, because most of the class are upperclassmen (some finishing up the last required credit before they graduate at the end of the summer or in the fall) and older than me. Oh my gods, people.

Everyone has those moments. I felt like that during one of my higher science classes. Everyone just kinda....went silent after that comment, then some brave soul said, 'Well, why are you here, then?'

If someone had actually said that in the class instead of privately to the professor, I don't think I could have controlled my sarcasm, which is finally honed from years and years of snark on the Internet.

Squee!!! We actually discussed all the different ways to say 'shit' in Latin class in high school! It was the BEST DISCUSSION EVER. My teacher was ancient and knew better than to expects us to not look for the foul language.

Our teacher asked us if we'd started our final projects. I blinked because mine has been DONE since this weekend..except for nit picky editing. This is the quarter after the teacher who wanted to hold our hands and write a paper together? *facepalms*

I can't even remember taking any notes in my geology class, except for the obligatory "LOL, cleavage!" notes. It was a productive class for writing, though. Admittedly, I'm usually a horrible note-taker though. Although that does work well with my study method of not looking back over my notes. Meh, it works for me.

I don't usually look back over my notes -- well, actually, I have been recently, since I suddenly discovered that studying was actually conducive to knowing the material, though I still prefer the book -- but I need to take notes in order to (a) process the material, (b) remember what the professor has earmarked as being relevant, and (c) stay awake.
