OMG I'M ACTUALLY GOING BACK TO SCHOOL.
Aug. 16th, 2010 08:55 pmI have packed up my textbooks, which is sort of like playing textbook tetris -- okay, a lot like playing textbook tetris, I finally ended up with a corner in each box that I could not fit another book into, but into which I stuffed yarn and two spice jars; I'm not shipping media mail, so it's fine. I went through three boxes before I finally got my THIRTY-FIVE TEXTBOOKS (and six packages of floss, three skeins of yarn, and a jar each of coriander and turmeric) into two large flat-rate boxes.
This year I'm going to try to pack all my clothes and necessities into one suitcase -- usually I do one large, one small, and a couple of boxes, but I've figured out I don't actually wear that many clothes, and I don't have time to read so many books (see re: textbooks), so we shall see if I can get clothes into my suitcase! If not, I'll ship another box, no big deal, cheaper than having to check another suitcase. My small suitcase is just a hair too big for carry-on -- I can carry it on, but it doesn't quite fit in the overhead bins by literally a hair, and after one flight where I stared at the bulging lid of the overhead bin for six hours waiting to see if it was going to burst open, no thank you. It is the one Japanese item that is larger than its American equivalent. I am on the lookout for another carry-on bag; until then, I'm fine with just my backpack and my (large) purse. Besides, stuffed animal head sticking out! I thought that was fun last time I did it.

All of my clothes. For over a week. In Egypt. I couldn't fit the shoes into my shoulder bag.

But we'll see how this actually goes when it comes to the packing.
