Dec. 23rd, 2005 05:34 pmI'm back!
It rained a lot. And it's raining here too. Excuse me, not raining. It's bucketing.
And on the Victoria Clipper with us? The U.S. Hockey Team. Not the Olympic team, but one of the junior teams, I guess. VERY cute, what I saw of them.

...!!! (they're about to play in a big tournament over in BC)
dude! You would've been on the boat with the guy in my icon. ;)

Date: 2005-12-24 02:32 am (UTC)Well, that's one way to put it.

Oh, that's what they were doing. We were wondering. And hockey players are the cutest athletes ever, except for cross-country runners. And soccer players. *cough*

Date: 2005-12-24 02:44 am (UTC)Well, there was large pink and green splotch on the radar looming over what looked like Oregon, Washington and Southern B.C. (My brother got snow, in Oregon, despite 'showers' being expected.)
Oh, that's what they were doing. We were wondering.
Well, technically they don't play the tournament proper until the 26th. I think they were dropping them in Victoria to train them and play some exhibition games. /random.

*snicker* Well, really, look at those three, and it's all about the legs, yes? Legs and stamina. *nod*. (and an excellent excuse to use my *other* Schrempie icon. I'd use my Hunter one but he's neither american nor playing in the WJC. ;))

Date: 2005-12-24 03:36 am (UTC)White Christmas my ass. Wet Christmas is more like it.

At least someone is keeping up with hockey.

Mmm. Legs. Mmm. Stamina. Mmm, cross-country runners (http://wonders.eburg.wednet.edu/institute/jhashimoto/XC/2005%20District%20Photos/pages/00013_tif.htm).

Date: 2005-12-24 04:00 am (UTC)We're supposed to get the same thing. A forecasted 46 degrees on Christmas? What the damn hell? (It's always the snow a few days before or after Christmas, it very seldom hits on it.)
At least someone is keeping up with hockey.
In a manner of speaking. I haven't figured out whose site has the WJC games on stream yet. Mostly I'm ogling the cute boys and watching the Bruins tie themselves (and their management) in literal and figurative knots. Oh, good *lord* sports in my city are *ugly*.

Holy fucking hell. The legs feed not just the Wolf, but Grandma and Little Red Riding Hood, too! (that's your cute boy second in from the left, yes?)

Date: 2005-12-24 04:15 am (UTC)Rain. *sigh* Rain, rain, rain. I hate snow, but I'm not too fond of rain either, at least not this time of year. Couple years ago I spent the Christmas in Thailand (Koh Samet, tropical island), white sand Christmas...at least I didn't come home to find out there was snow up to my eyeballs.

There's USA Hockey...that's the site I used to watch all the time. Probably should start doing it again now that the Olympics ae coming up... Ugly how?

*snort* And the rest of the Grimm brothers' stories (or Andersen's. Whoever's).
Yep, that's Joey. And the guy next to him on the right is the only soph there, the guy next to him with the sunglasses is Jeff, who is again with the hot, next to him is our star runner who went to state, and on the other side with the long hair is the other bari sax player. Mmm-mmm-mmm.

Date: 2005-12-24 04:40 am (UTC)I don't mind snow. For some reason the weather's being cranky and going from teens to forties over single 24-hour periods. :/ It makes no sense whatsoever and is... kind of dangerous, really. Becuase the snow melts during the day and then turns into an ice slick at night. *facepalm*. I remember when I was at UMF and it snowed *deep* and you didn't hardly want to go out even to the dining hall (which was across the street.)

That's probably it. I think someone else was streaming the games, too, maybe the site I listen to the Knights games on. *considers*.
Ugly how?
Boston sports put the "fun" in "dysfunctional". Like everyone's got their panties in a twist about Johnny Damon being traded to the Yankees, and the Bruins? Oh, the poor Bruins. They started sucking not far into the season, and then the management, in a stunning feat of -- something -- *traded* their captain to San Jose in return for 3 young players. And they improved. And then sucked again. And might want to trade someone else, like maybe one of their goalies. It's mad crazy. (The Patriots seem to be exempt from the level of crack by virtue of being in Foxboro, and the Celtics by virtue of not having nearly enough violence.)

They are *very* cute, the lot of them. Please tell me that at least some of them are older than sixteen so I don't feel like *too* much of a perv. ;)

Date: 2005-12-24 11:25 pm (UTC)Ah, yes, the ice. Worst part ever. That's why they cancelled school one day last year. They don't care aobut snow, but anything that threatens the buses? School closure. (on an already three day weekend, too, and we still had to play the basketball game) Although apparently winter in New England is even worse than winter in the PNW, so...you probably have it worse off than I do. We no longer have snowy fields, we have swimming pools. With mud.

I think most, if not all of them are (I'm not sure about Matt, the soph). The others are all juniors. I'm not sure if any of them are seniors. Our junior class rocks. And is MUCH cuter than any of the other classes.

Date: 2005-12-24 11:46 pm (UTC)That's pretty much the logic here, too, actually. If it's not safe for the buses, school gets closed. Although sometimes some private schools close if they have day students coming from far away, or who'd be driving through towns with poor conditions, even if the public schools in the town where the private school is don't close.

"Worse", I suppose, in that it probably gets colder, longer, and we get more snow on average. And because the weather is quite certifiably on crack, and highly unpredictable. And because we have dipsticks here who don't shovel their sidewalks, and when that melts, and refreezes, it turns into a 3-foot wide, blocks-long icerink. *facedesk*
Oh, dear.
Exactly. See? This is why the Boston boys on the USA team were all crazy-- it's in the damn *water*, I tell you. If it's not one thing, it's another, and no matter what, someone's got to be screwing up. And being yelled at. Good lord, my city takes the short bus to the sports tourneys, doesn't it.
(but I love it so.)

Hurrah! Not
too much ofa perv! *ogle*(no subject)
Date: 2005-12-25 12:22 am (UTC)It seems to be the logic everywhere. Of course, we are tough! We endure! On the
WetWest Side, they freak out if a snowflake falls and close school. Of course, they have many hills."Worse", I suppose, in that it probably gets colder, longer, and we get more snow on average. *blink* Well, at least you don't have to go looking for a real ice rink.

*nods understandingly and backs away* Yay small town non-drama?

*helpfully* There are more pictures too. Our junior boys are VERY cute.

Date: 2005-12-25 01:11 am (UTC)I love my friend Michael's story of coming into school despite a terrible, nasty nor'easter and seeing that his homeroom teacher had written on the board: "Remember! You are a hardy New Englander!"
*blink* Well, at least you don't have to go looking for a real ice rink.
I'd say "ice rink" is relative but you're right, I don't. Within (broadly) walking distance I have two publicly owned rinks, and at least one that is privately owned but has public skating hours.
I am now almost (almost) tempted to leave a radio-controlled zamboni on some offender's sidewalk come the next snowstorm.
*nods understandingly and backs away* Yay small town non-drama?
*sheepish look* Well, small towns have their own brand of drama. I think it's in part the sheer history behind the teams that drives everyone a scary level of insane. (however, unlike baseball, I would not be afraid to, say, wear a Senators or Islanders or non-Bruins jersey in public during hockey season. If I were to wear anything Yankees-branded, in Boston, between March and October, I would probably be killed eventually. ...actually yeah you might want to run far away from Boston.)
*helpfully* There are more pictures too. Our junior boys are VERY cute.
I see. :) *continues ogling* Unfortunately, I do not seem to attend school with anyone attractive. At least, no one who has photos.

Hmm, but of coure. Like Friday Night Lights, I guess. We have a bit of that here, too. Not very much, but still *seethes over the fact that the Mid-Valley League will be dissolved next year, which means Ellensburg will no longer play major rival West Valley* Or Mead, when it comes to band. They're good. They're big. We could still beat them up. (Jazz 1 came in second to Mead's jazz band last year at CBC. Doubtless we will continue to do so this year).
(however, unlike baseball, I would not be afraid to, say, wear a Senators or Islanders or non-Bruins jersey in public during hockey season. Oh, we had that same problem here last year. Seriously, between Boston-New York fans, violence was about to erupt. Never mind we're on the other side of the country...
I see. :) *continues ogling* Unfortunately, I do not seem to attend school with anyone attractive. At least, no one who has photos.
I'm just glad the x-country coach (who is also my physics teacher, which would explain the Crazy) put the pictures up. And the x-country boys ae such exhibitionists...
