so that was dumb
Oct. 2nd, 2010 06:50 pmNote to self: FOOD. IT IS A GOOD THING. Also, one packet of instant oatmeal and a cup of tea are not adequate sustenance for four hours walking all over Uptown in the hot sun. *facepalm* As
aella_irene would say, headweasels, so I took off, made it to Borders, looped back to find the Freret Street Market, which was a bad idea, omg; it seemed like a perfectly decent market (though, dude, I'm from Washington, nothing can top Pike Place Market), but there were far too many fucking human beings in one very small space and I ran into the Newcomb Student Programs person, C., who interrogated me on why we didn't have dates for the NSAGA faculty speaker series yet. I looped through the market again, in an attempt to, I don't know, do something reasonable, then gave up and fled back to St. Charles, and then on to Whole Foods for raspberries. (And anything else; I also ended up getting more tea (guys...I do not need more tea, I think I just get stressed and buy tea), chicken thighs, two giant Honeycrisps (Washington apples are coming into season!), cheddar and parmesan cheese (I don't eat cheese except on things, but...sometimes I need to put it on things), bananas, and then panicked when I couldn't find ground cardamom and walked out without getting thyme, which I sort of needed.) And then came back to campus -- according to mapmyrun.com, this was a lovely eight mile walk in the sun, on a packet of oatmeal and a cup of tea. DUMB, BEDLAM.
Then I ate some edamame and made bread. *sighs* However! I did not burn myself while making bread this time. Now I am reading Plutarch. Perhaps later I shall attempt to catch up with the new fall television season. (And by catch up, I mean, the only thing I've watched this fall and am up to date on is Hell's Kitchen.)

Date: 2010-10-03 12:31 am (UTC)You seem to buy tea like I do; I've got tons, at home and at work, but I can't stop myself from buying more. These days, I'm an Earl Grey/Lady Grey addict. If I see a new one in a store (usually Whole Foods), I'll go grab a box and put it in my basket.

Date: 2010-10-03 12:56 am (UTC)I was better at not buying so much tea last year! Except this year I get distracted and stressed and then buy more tea. It helps I'm branching out from real tea to herbal teas on rare occasion, but I still have so much loose leaf I don't know why I bother buying some of the stuff bagged.

Date: 2010-10-03 01:23 am (UTC)I love herbal teas for those times when I really don't need the caffeine. I've been drowning myself in a lot of Lemon and Ginger tea these days as I'm trying to recover from a cold.
Loose leaf and teabags I've got equal amounts. Lots and lots of tins of loose leaf I brought back from trips abroad, and just as many tea bags of similar variety, even though I know I could just make teabags with the loose tea. It'll take me years to go through everything in my collection since I refuse to give away my prized tea!

Date: 2010-10-03 01:44 am (UTC)Yeah, I'm trying some herbal teas for specific things -- I've got some of the sleepytime ones right now, for the evening, as I'm a lot more sensitive even to the very light caffeine load in green tea than I used to be right now.
I have so much loose leaf green tea. So much. My mother always brings back bags of it from Japan (she's from the premier tea-producing prefecture, so they know tea), and I prefer to buy loose leaf because I know it's cheaper than buying it in bags, but occasionally I buy bags for whatever reason -- herbals are mostly in bags, and I have some black tea, and today I picked up some jasmine green, because my loose leaf jasmine hasn't been working for me and maybe this one will! Although they don't sell the brand of bagged jasmine I like.
