oh dear gods I'm tired
Jan. 9th, 2011 04:54 pmAm in New Orleans. OMG, y'all, sometimes I seriously doubt my ability to do this for another year -- I started crying in the airporter on my way from Ellensburg to Sea-Tac, sniffling quietly into a fortuitous tissue. New Orleans is great and all, but I love Ellensburg.
Naturally, it is now raining in New Orleans. I have put away the things I brought -- a lot easier to unpack when all you have is a backpack and a giant purse! -- and have acquired one of my textbooks from the library, but none of the others, as I tend to wince at the prices at the bookstore (I'll get them from Amazon tomorrow, I need to get some other stuff at the same time) and for a couple of them, I want to wait until I see the syllabi for the classes.
First thing we did was start moving Alaska in -- Minnesota moved out, and Alaska's roommate New York is in Prague this semester, so Alaska is moving in with us. I am reassured; it is one more bastion against Maryland. (Who still hasn't come back; I am not looking forward to that experience.) Then I did laundry, as I wasn't able to do my laundry before leaving for break because my university's card-reader system was broken. I know. Fancy-schmancy private school my ass.
My flight was a red-eye. I hate red-eyes; I don't sleep well on airplanes, and I zoned in and out during the flight, but couldn't bring myself to turn on the reading light because I was just too out of it to concentrate, either to read my book or read my knitting charts. I did sleep through the entire flight from Houston to New Orleans, because I was seriously sleep-deprived by then, having been up since 9 Saturday morning. I got in at 9:45-ish Sunday morning and no, I have not slept since then. I don't usually do naps. Fortunately my first class tomorrow (Intermediate Latin, oh god oh god) isn't until 10 am, and after that I don't have another one till 4:30. Hopefully the weather is good so I can make a Whole Foods run!
Agh, hungry, but it's still raining. To go outside or to go hungry...wow, that's a dumb decision right there.
