bedlamsbardI'm having a sudden urge to write Narnia right at the beginning of the Long Winter. (Probably because of the weather here, heh. Not snowstorms, but that sudden cold, the temperature drop when it's not expected.) No real plot, not the dramatic novel-length that time-traveling Edmund would have been if I'd ever actually written any of that. (Short version: Edmund ends up time-traveling back to Narnia just before the Long Winter, where there are shenanigans and he meets the last human Queen of Narnia, the last Narnian descendant of Frank and Helen. Also Jadis, before she's the White Witch.) Just a moment in time.
It begins like this: Either winter's come early or stayed late, because on Midsummer's Eve Laertes goes to bed without the necessity of a fire in the hearth or even any blankets on the bed, and when he wakes up on Midsummer's Day his breath steams in the frigid air of the cave.
