My parents totally think it's more respectable and legit for me to go to England for SRS BZNS Schooling than to hop across the pond for spring break. Heh. On a whim I checked prices for a round-trip ticket from New Orleans to Heathrow for Tulane's spring break -- Mardi Gras week, this year -- and I might be able to stay with Chicago, who's doing study abroad at UCL right now, so it's totally feasible. The subject came up while I was telling my mother how much I wanted to do this summer program, but I should probably take Greek at the UW instead. I want to do something fun and exciting for spring break while I'm an undergrad, that's what being an undergrad is for. And it's a bit odd going to school in a city that other college students visit for spring break; Mardi Gras in New Orleans is something that is, apparently, on a lot of people's bucket lists, but that one I got covered twice over and going on round three.
Anyway. It would be really cool to go abroad over break, but buying an international plane ticket for a week's stay in another continent two weeks away is probably too impulsive for me. (And I'd have to have my mother mail my passport to me, but that's not particularly difficult. I just got my passport renewed last summer, it's all shiny and new and OH SO PATRIOTIC also it needs STAMPS, I haven't traveled internationally since 2008, although I have done some extensive domestic travel. Anyway. I'm probably not that impulsive. Probably. Surprise federal grant gave me a reimbursement for some of fall's tuition, and my Japanese grandparents sent me some more money, so it's not completely stupid on a financial level, just not particularly well-advised...)
I know. It could be worse. I could be impulsively planning to go to Mexico or Egypt or somewhere for spring break.
