bedlamsbardI am pretty sure all my Rilian fic is just a thinly-veiled excuse for me to amuse myself by writing about Narnian lit. Heh. Heheheheheheheh. (Not just Narnian lit. So far, we also have Telmarine sonnets and Terebinthian tragedies. Also Narnian masques.)
There's actual content too, I promise! Maybe. Somewhere. Once I get Rilian out of his rooms. (Rilian's life is sort of boring. School work, no friends, grieving and slightly over-protective father. Am not entirely certain why he doesn't have any friends, I think it has to do with rank and some of the weirdnesses of Narnian-Telmarine society, and he was possibly just born during one of those years when there weren't a lot of children being born. Also I think the court is still in mourning and so a lot of the nobility may have taken their children home? Not really sure. Rilian's an only child, and it never strikes him as odd; he's used to being alone.
...oh, dear gods, possibly Rilian is me. Er, although neither of my parents have been murdered by a terrifying magical snake-woman, I am happy to report. Nor am I a princess in a magical land. Alas. On the bright side, I haven't been kidnapped and held prisoner for ten to fifteen years of my life either, which I shall personally count as a win.)
ETA: So far my favorite character in this story is Lady That Woman Whom Doctor Cornelius Disapproves Of (not her real name). Not sure she'll appear on-screen or not, though. She's spunky. Y'all would like her. She ran off from her husband and now lives with thinly-veiled Ben Jonson figure and designs sets for his fancy court masques. (So basically she's his Inigo Jones, which will never not sound like the name of a pirate instead of a set designer.)
