My brain has inexplicably gotten switched to TV series trailer mode for Dust. Which is lovely...and if Dust was an HBO series it would be the coolest thing ever.
It is all dramatic right now! There is the trailer that goes by region and looks sort of like this:
RETURN TO NARNIA
CAIR PARAVEL
dogfight from Dust 23
someone talking
the Long Table (from Dust 15?)
backalley dealings
[redacted]'s introduction to court!
Bahadur's splendor
the dungeons from Dust 12
wanted posters
dramatic landscape
THE HIGH REACHES
the salt mines from Dust 00
scenes from the attack on the Calormene fort
staked out sacrifices
Lucy in the earth with diamonds
[totally shameless fanservice redacted] scene
owls circling overhead
dramatic landscape
ARCHENLAND
dramatic landscape
Eian on his throne
Susan's dramatic entry
Narnian-Archenlander squabbling
Susan kissing girls
scene from the tournament
Calormenes
Susan being dramatic and [redacted]
THE WESTERN WILD
circling griffin
Peter, fighting
Winter's End celebrations
the camp
Lucy pouring out diamonds in front of Peter
Tirian arguing
[redacted] fight scene
fade to logo as lion roars
(we shall ignore the part where Archenland isn't actually part of Narnia, it's a major part of Dust II, though. there is Edmund, I think he might be redacted somewhere.)

Date: 2011-03-01 04:33 pm (UTC)I would totally watch this! It's got everything it needs in a series: intrigue, battles, sex, court politics, gangsters...
I've recently caught up with "Boardwalk Empire" and as I was watching it, I kept thinking "Now, if these were the members of Long Table and the Prohibition officers were the Calormenes..."
And yes, Edmund should get a few scenes of his own too. The second King gets no love here. Then again, no Jill, Eustace or Tirian either?

Date: 2011-03-01 05:48 pm (UTC)I haven't seen any of Boardwalk Empire. Is it worth watching? (My taste for TV right now is...strange. At some point I will go get the first season of the Sopranos out of the library. Ooh! Maybe for spring break.)
Tirian's on there! The slight problem is that there is only one main plot where I know what's happening from beginning to end (major events-wise, anyway), and that's the Archenland plot; the High Reaches plot has one big point that I know of (the total fanservice one, erp) and I haven't quite worked out what's happening with Cair Paravel and Arn Abedin because there are a couple different ways I could go, and I'm hesitating over which one I want. (One of them would involve introducing a new OC POV character, and I don't really want to do that, but it might make more sense for the story. I think. I'm not sure. My motives and interests have changed so much since I started writing Dust.)

Date: 2011-03-01 08:20 pm (UTC)I wasn't sure if I'd like it at first but then got hooked into the whole thing. Part of why I like it are the details in the art direction -- they built a real boardwalk set (which is near where I live, actually) to shoot the outdoor scenes and there's something about the clothes, the music and everything else that's just wonderful.
As for the characters... well, if you're interested in Nucky Johnson, Al Capone, Lucky Luciano and all those famous gangsters, then you should see it. I kind of like some of the secondary characters. There's Jimmy (Nucky's enforcer who fought in WWI), Gillian (Jimmy's very young, very pretty mother who Lucky seduces) and halfway through the season, we meet a really cool WWI sharpshooter who's missing half his face (Jimmy befriends him at a Veterans' hospital) and ends up getting involved in the gangster business.
As for Dust... I would be happy to read any of those subplots in the next chapter. Archenland's politics have gotten interesting and I'm curious as to what's been going on back in Arn Abedin -- mainly, watching Peter try to deal with all of the rebels/allies and seeing what he wants to do next. (Also, what have Leocadia and Becka have been up to. The Western woods are a far departure from the more orderly (and clean) Cair Paravel.)

Date: 2011-03-01 09:13 pm (UTC)I'm going to try and knock out another chapter of Dust during spring break next week, when I have the time and hopefully the energy to do so, so we'll see! I am cautiously hopeful, though I make no promises. But it's on my mind right now, at least. (As is Rilian. They can battle it out.)
