Apr. 16th, 2011 07:12 pmSo today I went to Crawfest! For the first time, although Crawfest predates my arrival at Tulane by a few years. See, I've always been really really intimidated by crawfish, which are ubiquitous in Louisiana and at Tulane -- we have crawfish boils like other universities have barbeques. (Although now I'm craving a burger like whoa. Mmmm, hamburgers.) But I never go to them! Because I don't know how to eat crawfish. My roommate Texas does, but she doesn't go to them either, because she doesn't like crawfish. And my other friends aren't interested in the experience, as far as I can tell (well, that and two of them are vegetarians; the other two are abroad this year but weren't interested the previous two years either). And I didn't want to try and figure out how to eat crawfish on my own, because that would probably end badly and in tears, and I am, uh, kind of low on the whole friends thing. (I have friends! Really! I'm just not good at it.) But! This year I went to Crawfest and met up with
pinesandmaples and
rooibos and two of their friends, and we hung out and ate crawfish and gelato (we're classy like that in New Orleans) and it was just generally awesome. (And, er, sorry for being quiet and awkward. See again: poorly socialized and kind of shy.)
And then I came back to study, but didn't really feel like it, so went grocery shopping instead and returned with an ear of corn. Among other things. I shall experiment with it -- probably tomorrow night, when the roommates are out. I kind of want to make dinner, but one of my roommates put her tie-dyed shirts in the kitchen sink and I'm not sure if I can just move them and put them in a bowl or something without ruining the tie-dye. (Dear internets, can I? Please? Because I would like to do my dishes after I make dinner. Have I mentioned she moved all the dirty dishes out of the sink in order to put her tie-dye in? I mmean, to her credit, she was drunk at the time, but still.)
I should probably go back to reading about fasting, as today has not been a heavy on the reading sort of day.
