Sep. 9th, 2011 08:35 pmSo today there was a bomb scare on campus ("It's a little early in the semester," said my Greek Art & Archaeology prof), so they evacuated the entire academic quad and cancelled classes on that side of campus for the day. So I didn't go to Latin. *sighs* (Well, there was a quiz scheduled, so everybody else in the class was probably glad about it. I wish my prof would have e-mailed us, though; now I feel anxious, because if what if everyone else went to class?) So now there are three things that Tulane has cancelled classes for: Hurricane Gustav, the Saints Superbowl victory parade, and a bomb scare in the architecture building.
Also, I went to Swap and bought a skirt! It is cotton and red with pleats and a white design. And also $14, so WIN. (60% off, plus an extra 15% off because there's a weekend sale. *does a little dance*)
I have made a smoothie -- it is the first time I've used my immersion blender, and while it's pretty good, I feel like there's something just slightly lacking. In it: one banana, pineapple-orange juice, fat-free Greek yoghurt (I didn't mean to buy fat-free, I just did on accident), and mixed frozen berries (blackberries, raspberries, strawberries, and blueberries.) Maybe I should add a little bit of honey or something as an extra sweetener?
I feel like I am being pretty exacting with the minutiae of my life, so -- sorry about that. I'm just worried that I'm actually going to have a nervous breakdown any day now, and this helps.

Date: 2011-09-10 04:33 pm (UTC)Heh, Tulane cancels classes? The University of Undisclosed Location has not, in the going-on-7-years I have been here, once cancelled classes. I've told my students that buildings can be on fire and they'll only cancel classes in that building, and my students think I'm kidding, but nope. (Still, if you're going to cancel, a hurricane and a bomb threat are valid. Sports parade? Yeaaaah, no.)

Date: 2011-09-10 05:35 pm (UTC)I don't think we've very used to bomb threats, so they were a little alarmed. And New Orleans was very excited for the Superbowl. (On the other hand, we're pretty hardcore when it comes to not cancelling classes for weather: we've never cancelled for rain/flooding since I've been here, and unlike many schools in the South, we don't cancel for the faint likelihood of snow. I AM NOT KIDDING. THE SOUTH IS A STRANGE PLACE.)
