Notes to self about The Story I Am Not Writing (a.k.a. the mirrorverse):

There But For the Grace of God (series title)
Through the Looking Glass (Stella: the universe where Mac was married to a now-deceased Stella and now has a daughter, Callie)
On the Flip Side of the Coin (Danny: the universe where Mac stayed in the Marines and now heads the MVC, a military group exploring the multiverse and engaged in a war against the Inhumans)
On the Other Side of the Line (Flack: the universe where Stella was raised by her father and became a professional thief; the universe where Mac stayed in Seattle and became an FBI agent)
Stranger in a Strange Land (Mac: the Inhuman home universe, where Atlantis never sank and there was no ice age)

Fun note: The MVC designation for the canon 'verse: VES-616. /dorkiness

Memes gakked from [livejournal.com profile] stellaluna_: Why did I choose that title? If you've ever wondered why the hell I called that story what I did, here's the chance to ask.

Snafu
New York Minute
Black Monday
Omerta
Habeus Corpus
Bloody Sunday
There But For the Grace of God (individual story titles above)
Alter-Ego
Justice
Winds of Fortune
City of Ghosts

And Also, there's a title meme thing where you give me a title of a story I haven't written, and I'll tell you what the synopsis would be. I'm down with that.

Quiet After Midnight: Flack's walked the beat, back and forth, with Gavin pacing along at his side and the Hudson shimmering still and silent beneath them, but this isn't that beat. This is something else. This isn't the New York of his childhood, the city that never slept, but another New York, a strange one he doesn't know. No one walks the sreet after the sun goes down anymore. Even cops are afraid to go out. Bullets don't hurt the undead, and the undead have no preference for drinking a civilian over a copper.

Sunset City: The walls of Angel of Mercy were harder and colder than Gavin ever remembered -- he'd been here when his mother died, sitting in the orange chair next to her bed and holding her hand -- but they'd never seemed quite so hard and cold. He'd never expected to see Donny here, becauuse someone might ask about the wings and then where would would he be? But he had to take the risk, him and Danny Messer, Donny's friend and sometime partner, and it wasn't like there were wings on his back anymore. That was the only reason he hadn't gone to the MHIU. Ex-cop he might be, but he wasn't going to bring the NYPD into something that wasn't theirs to see.

One April Day: Mac's never thought about it before, but some of the most important events of his life have happened on April 1st, which is probably some great cosmic joke. April 1st is the day when he first met Stella, when he was still married to Claire and SVU and CSU were working hand in hand on a child brothel. April 1st is Callie's birthday, the day he got the call that Stella was in labor when he was at a murder-suicide in Red Hook with Aiden. April 1st is the day he arrested Danny Messer for murder one year later. And it's the day another Stella Bonasera came into his life six years after that first April 1st. He doesn't want to think that there's some connection between them all.

This is fun!

Oh, these are all *awesome*. I love the idea of Gavin and Flack going up against the undead in the first, and yay! for winged Flack in the second. Plus more Gavin. Or, well, no longer winged Flack, apparently...but that 'verse.

And poor Mac in the third; I really like the idea of April 1st being some sort of cosmic joke in his life, and all these possible connections that he *doesn't* want to see.

This title meme *rules*.

I appear to have a bad habit of putting the supernatural and metanormal into the CSI:NY science verse. Whoops. /not guilty at all

Poor, poor Glassverse Mac and his issues.

I like this title meme.

I *like* seeing the supernatural and/or metanormal bumping up against the rationalism of the CSI 'verse. It makes for much fun.

If you'd like some more titles...

"November Song"
"A Girl Needs a Knife"
"Black Dove (January)"

And they just fit so well into the messed-up-ness that is fantasy/superheroes fic.

November Song: Oh, they'd fucked this up royally, the two of them. They'd never seen these particular side effects coming, even with their computers and their IQs the size of Texas. Stella had fucked up -- she'll admit it, not that anyone will listen to her -- and so had Mac, but he didn't know that now. Now he didn't even know that Detective Stella Bonasera, Ph.D, had ever existed.

A Girl Needs a Knife: She makes the Y-incision with quiet precision, her knife barely sliding through the skin with only the faintest resistance. The body jerks under her hands. "Shh," Stella says, touching the boy's face. "Just a little more and it will be over." Danny slides his eyes shut and turns his face away from her hands. "No," he says and his voice cracks, "it never will."

Black Dove (January): "Don Constantine," Stella says and lets Val raise her hand to his lips.

"Ma'am," he replies. Carmine watches her silently from over Val's shoulder.

"You don't recognize me," Stella says. "No -- don't say anything. I knew you wouldn't." She waits a beat. "I need your help."

Heh. Is it wrong for me to be as vastly amused at this scenario as I am? Because, I mean, of course that's *awful*, and a tricky problem to solve (to say the least), but...heee.

"No," he says and his voice cracks, "it never will."

Oh. Oh my god. *eep* This is so creepy and disturbing. Seriously. Yikes.

"Don Constantine," Stella says and lets Val raise her hand to his lips.

Yay, more mafia scenarios! Thumbs up. Stella is a force to be reckoned with, no matter what the 'verse.

See, the first one and the third are part of the same story, and part of the Tomorrow People 'verse, because I'm messed up like that.

And the other one is one of the mirrorverses, because who doesn't want a serial killer Stella? I mean, seriously? Serial killer!
