False alarm on the one more course needed for the classics major. Today has definitely been a day of the "oh god I hate everything and want to die in a corner" type. Have not gotten Duke of Lerma book read. Probably can't skip all my classes tomorrow again, either. (There is something seriously wrong with my schedule when I keep having to factor in "skip all classes one day of the week", which...I cannot do.)

*breathes into paper bag* Okay. I'm going to translate this Greek passage (it's glossed, so I just have to puzzle out what it actually says), then take a shower and read at least one chapter from the Lerma book and thus hopefully be able to fake my way through an abstract tomorrow (GOD I SUCK), and then go to bed.

Why, yes, it's midnight; there was a fire alarm, and then I finished my Latin glosses, then I stared into space and occasionally pecked at lady Jedi for about half an hour, and then it was now.

I'm sorry you're finding it difficult to get certain projects done. Hopefully a chapter will help you! BSing stuff is sometimes the best way to do it. As my brother said, when it comes to college, you don't have to excel, you just have to pass.

Sooner or later this semester I will work out how to rearrange my schedule so I actually get stuff done on time. Preferably sooner rather than later!

At the moment I am considering areas in and outside of SD and outside of LA (not in the city proper) as rents are huge. And I know some people who are doing the same thing. Much less horrendous rent-wise and you're still close that you can go to the cities if you *want*.

Well, UCLA does offer a Classics post-bacc, which is basically all I want out of a U.S. school right now. Although LA is on a list of places I never want to live ever (I am a small town girl at heart!). (Davis also has a classics post-bacc, but that's...elsewhere, I think.)

Yes, LA is just too crowded. Outside the city or in a small neighborhood is the way to go.

The place I am sure I could never live? New York City! Too many people, too small a space. Even New Orleans gets my hackles up sometimes, and it's much smaller.

Oh, NYC is very crowded. Plus, housing=ridiculous.

When I was in high school I briefly considered applying to Barnard. My mother said no, living expenses in NYC are too high. My father said no, NYC was the most likely target of a nuclear attack. Then he reiterated the living expenses thing. And that is why I did not apply to Barnard College.
