bedlamsbard: natasha romanoff from the black widow prelude comic (don't fuck with us (iconthology))

It is amazing how SW:TCW Obi-Wan has chemistry with everyone, and basically I want to write him having casual sex with...almost everyone (except I won't, since I'm still not that interested in porn right now), and yet the only person I actively ship any variation of Obi-Wan with is Anakin, who is also the one person that I am completely unable to get him into bed with. And trust me, I've been trying.

Things what I want to write: angsty post-RotS Obi-Wan/Ahsoka. HOW WRONG IS THAT. And yet also kind of right. Because they are the only ones who understand each other's pain! And they're part of that chain of self-destructive master/padawans! THEY ARE THE ONLY ONES WHO UNDERSTAND. And also it would be kind of hot, if messed up.

So when I was making my list of awesome SW:TCW ladies last night, I forgot Shaak Ti and Riyo Chuchi. When was the last time that you knew any fandom where you could make a list of twelve female characters and still have forgotten to add two more? (Not to mention the passing background ones that only show up in one ep or so.) I mean, SW:TCW still has a lot of the weird gender issues that are present in the OT and the PT -- I would really appreciate it if there was a non-Jedi female military leader; why are all the admirals dudes on both sides? -- but it's a lot better than you really expect it to be, and it does well at having ladies be the leaders of their people. And since we do have female Jedi (and bounty hunters, and Jedi killers), it's not just "ladies politicians! mens warriors!"

While we're talking about awesome Star Wars ladies, can I have a moment of praise for Aayla Secura? Because she gets all the best lines in the Clone Wars comics. (These are, as an aside, the ones that are collected in the TPBs called Star Wars: Clone Wars, since I think there are more not in that series I'm missing.) Like these gems:

From "Sacrifice":
AAYLA: No. I am a Jedi and my will is my own.

(later in the same issue)
AAYLA: There has to be a difference between us and those we fight. We are Jedi. We must remain Jedi.
QUINLAN VOS: And if we lose? If more of us die?
AAYLA: Then we lose and we die and we still are Jedi.

From "Brothers in Arms":
AAYLA: The secret, Anakin, is to know when a thing is fixed. And to leave it alone.

From "Light and Dark":
AAYLA: In you, I see what I might have become. In me, you must confront what you could have been.
AURRA SING: No! You are not like me! No one is! There is no one like me in the galaxy! I am justice! I am the bane of Jedi! I haunt the dreams of their padawans! I will drink your fear and spill your blood and my hate will scar the galaxy. I am Aurra Sing!
AAYLA: You are like the heatstorms on Ryloth, Aurra Sing. Terrifying forces of nature. All one can do is abide...until their fury is spent..and then you move. *kicks her in the face* You're not unique -- you are alone. As you choose to be.

AAYLA: You cannot fight who you are, Xiaan. We are Twi'leks. We do not forget. And some things you should never let go. The memories of your master, the lessons you learned, should always remain. We are also Jedi. We focus on what is at hand. But do not forget.

From "Siege of Saleucami":
AAYLA: The creature you face cannot be killed. Cannot be denied. You are bound to it because it is a part of you. Let go of your anger! It will drown you!
QUINLAN VOS: You're wrong! I can do this! I can set things right!
AAYLA: You guard a secret that no longer matters. You are not alone, Quin. No Jedi is ever alone. This is the core of you. This is the truth of you. You are made of light. We are all made of light. The light is greater than the anger of the darkness, Quin.

Basically, if the Aayla-Tholme-Quinlan plot arc was supposed to show the route Anakin could have taken, I think it argues that if Anakin had had MORE attachments, he would never have fallen to the Dark Side.

That rather neatly fits into my theory that Yoda was actually the most bass-ackwards, Missing The Point jedi ever, and without him in a posotion of power, things may have gone much differently.
