Oh my god I hate computers. So I turned mine on this morning and it had a complete fit and refused to boot up, then did a system restore back to April (when I got it back from the Tech Services, I believe) which deleted a bunch of programs I use and oh my god this thing had better not have just frozen okay it's better now and reinstalled a bunch that I had deleted, so I've been trying to get the damn thing back up to speed and wow, I am glad I finally switched from IE to Chrome, Chrome's sleeker (I had to reinstall Chrome). Then I had to figure out how the hell to get McAfee Agent off my computer, which nearly gave me hives, and I'm sure now I'm going to have to go through and figure out what else was deleted. OverDrive, I think. I'm kind of afraid to check my files, even though I'm reasonably sure they're still there. I'm backed up to a few days ago, but I didn't back up yesterday. Have I mentioned I hate computers? I hate computers.

There's something that automatically backs up files to ~the cloud, right? What is that? I want it. (Later, I'll figure out how to back up my entire iTunes library, I don't have space on my external hard drive. I also want another one.)

Still looking for a new computer. I kind of want to get another Dell Inspiron, but considering the experiences I've had with this one...

I use Dropbox to auto-backup my writing to the internets. I think there's a google thing for music? Maybe?

Thanks! Dropbox was what I was thinking of, I just couldn't remember the name.

I use a service called Mozy for cloud backup of my entire hard drive. It works like a charm, even for recovering individual files.

In my experience Dell brings nothing but grief.

My last two laptops have been Dells...and every time I think I like Dell, I have to remind myself that with this laptop alone I've had three major problems.

We've had a really solid experience with Sony Vaio laptops and not just because they come in pretty colors. (Aliyah has a pink one!)

Thanks! I will look into them. I am definitely into colors; my current laptop is red and I want another red laptop. (I really like red, okay.)
