I have made an amazing strawberry frozen yoghurt today, thus christening my new ice cream maker. AMAZING. OMG. From real strawberries and homemade yoghurt. SO GOOD. (This is the recipe, by the way.)

It feels pretty damn amazing to make something in your own kitchen that normally you'd only get at a grocery store or at a restaurant. Today I made frozen yoghurt, yesterday I made bread, last week I made a fucking amazing pizza (with homegrown basil on it!). I also drop spindle and knit my own socks (not in the kitchen), so I think I can safely say I am a fan of the DIY movement.

Whoo, DIY! Not that my sewing's going well (and I don't have the energy for more hobbies than that), but I love the idea so much.

Ooh, I need to try getting back to sewing. I have a sewing machine, and I know how to handsew, but it's not my preferred drug hobby of choice.

I'll admit part of my enthusiasm for DIY is that I have a paranoid streak that really, really wants to be able to survive when the apocalypse inevitably arrives. *whistle*

I bake, etc, and am taking up the making of body butter, soap, and perfumes. Am very excited.

Yay! *waves flag* I need to start sewing, I think. And oh, I just remembered that I really wanted to do a sourdough starter this summer.

That sounds very exciting! I would like to try making my own lip balm sometime, I think, since I go through a lot of it. (My bad habit is that I peel the skin off my lips. Lip balm helps.)

Honestly, I love body butter and scrubs, so I thought I had better start making my own.
