Dec. 18th, 2012 10:50 amI am back in Ellensburg! It is covered in snow, omgmakeitstop. I caught the 11 o'clock shuttle from Sea-Tac yesterday (it was actually at 11:45, because it was late), after spending the night in a hotel, and got back into town at about 2:15. I always forget how cold it gets here in winter. At least it's not as big a shock coming from Leicester to Washington as it is coming from New Orleans to Washington. (Pretty much I will probably never be able to live any further north than this. I will freeze and die. I keep staring sadly at my closet, which is full of pretty sundresses and tank tops and shirts of a boobalicious nature that outside of the Deep South can only be worn for about six weeks a year, tops. Well, less over here, because the SCANDAL. Yes, I own shirts and dresses that my mother looks at and goes, "YOU CANNOT WEAR THAT IN PUBLIC. Maybe in New Orleans, but definitely not in Ellensburg." And I am relatively restrained with my tits, too! I can't believe I just typed that.)
To do: Get a library card for the CWU library, because I need the Digest of Justinian and I was not going to bring that internationally, because have you seen that thing? (Four giant hardback volumes.) PhD applications, because the Tulane deadline is January 10, and I have done nothing, NOTHING! And as already stated, in order for my wardrobe to make any sense, I need to go back to the South.
I'm going to have to bring back more tea the next time I come home. American tea is too weak.

What kind of tea did you bring back? Every time I go to the UK, I haul back a ton of tea in my suitcase and carry-on (and end up buying more once I get past security and am wasting time at the duty-free). I recommend stopping into Fortnum & Mason if you're in London -- that's my favorite store for tea in the world. Last time I went there, I just threw things into my basket with abandon and didn't even look at the total at the register. It was fun. :-)

Date: 2012-12-18 07:38 pm (UTC)I didn't bring back much -- Twinings for my mom for Christmas, and then I had a small falling down in the Duty Free shop in Heathrow and walked out with a tin of Fortnum & Mason, which I've never had before. I didn't have much space in my luggage and I know we've got a bunch of tea at home, so the massive amounts of tea I have in Leicester remained there. TEA.
