an aggravation of dwarves
Feb. 4th, 2013 07:17 pmSelf-indulgence, character-building, etc. Frankly I'm surprised there are only five Hobbit actors on here. For kicks, match each member of the aggravation to a Hobbit dwarf: they do, in fact, match up exactly. (Almost. There's one odd one out. And let's be honest, some of these are really obvious.)
Flocked because only one of these characters has technically shown up yet, not to mention I reserve the right to change everything if need be. Also because this is really self-indulgent. For some of the dwarves the descriptions are really sparse because I don't know anything other than what's been written here.
AN AGGRAVATION OF DWARVES
THE CHAIN-GANG

Athan Ironstone (Richard Armitage)
A knight of Narnia, Athan was formerly sheriff of Glasswater. He raised his two young nephews, Merry and Lev, after their parents died in a commune in the Shuddering Woods. During the Occupation, he was forced to flee the city with a small band of followers. For more than two years they waged a fierce guerrilla war against the occupying Calormene troops in Southern Narnia, until Athan was captured and a number of his company killed. For the past year Athan has been held on the nameless isle working in the chain-gang constructing the new Temple to Tash.

Kivran Hammersmith (Graham McTavish)
Before the Calormenes came, Kivran was a professional soldier in the Narnian army. Following the Occupation he returned to his hometown of Glasswater, where he briefly served as one of his old friend Athan's deputies. He fled the city with Athan and was part of his company of guerrillas, eventually captured by the Calormenes. He is currently held on the nameless isle as part of the chain-gang constructing the new Temple to Tash.

Brofi (James Nesbitt)
Brofi is a professional lawyer who specializes in family law among the dwarven community of Glasswater. He previously cared for his younger sister Icelo before being arrested by the Calormenes on unknown charges. He is currently being held on the nameless isle as part of the chain-gang constructing the new Temple to Tash.

Joar (Joe Mantegna)
Along with his wife Loet, Joar previously owned and operated a pub in Glasswater, The Broken Shield -- a second job after having been a woodworker for most of his life. He was arrested by the Calormenes on charges of conspiracy against the occupying government and is currently held on the nameless isle as part of the chain-gang constructing the new Temple to Tash.

Orth (Russell Tovey)
One of the youngest dwarves in the chain-gang, Orth was previously a student at seminary in Beaversdam. Originally from Glasswater, he was raised by his much-older cousin Fiehe along with his mischievous sister Hnaki. He was arrested by the Calormenes on unknown charges.

Stigandrr (Damian Lewis)
Stigandrr is one of the few dwarves in the aggravation that does not hail from Glasswater. Originally from a mining community in the foothills of the Archen Mountains, Stigandrr has been in Calormene hands for almost twice as long as anyone else in the aggravation, and no longer remembers what he was arrested for.
GLASSWATER

Oddny Hammersmith (Rene Russo)
Oddny is Kivran's sister and grew up with him and Athan Ironstone. She is currently a professor of engineering at Kings College, at the University of Glasswater.

Fiehe (Anthony Head)
Fiehe is a goldsmith, one of the few male dwarves still remaining in Glasswater after the last round of Calormene arrests. He raised his much younger cousins Orth and Hnaki.

Hnaki (Sinead Keenan)
Hnaki is Orth's older sister, a petty thief and all-around troublemaker. Like her brother, she was raised by her cousin Fiehe.

Loet (Miranda Hart)
Loet is married to Joar and, since his arrest, has been running The Broken Shield on her own. She is Brofi's sister and has taken over care of their youngest sister Icelo.

Icelo (Anna Torv)
Icelo is the youngest sister of Brofi and Loet. Strong-willed and clever, she took a head injury in a riot that left her unable to speak, along with other lasting complications. Since her brother's arrest, she has lived with her sister in The Broken Shield. She is a wood-carver and toymaker.
ARCHENLAND

Excessive Merriment "Merry" Ironstone (Dean O'Gorman)
Along with his younger brother Lev, Merry was raised by his uncle Athan after their parents' death in a Circle commune in the Shuddering Woods. He and his brother were sent away to Archenland with family friends for their own safety after the Calormenes invaded. They are connected to the Queen of Thieves in Anvard due to her marriage to their foster-brother, Percy Treanor, but long to return to Narnia in order to find their missing uncle.

Inappropriate Levity "Lev" Ironstone (Aidan Turner)
Like his older brother Merry, Lev was raised by his uncle after their parents' death. Due to their youth, he and his brother were sent away to Archenland with family friends for their own safety after the Calormenes invaded. They are connected to the Queen of Thieves in Anvard due to her marriage to their foster-brother, Percy Treanor, but long to return to Narnia in order to find their missing uncle.
