the usual miscellany + Hobbit art recs

Today in wtf is Bedlam's body doing news: Today was my right wrist and my upper arm/shoulder area hurting, which was just awesome, let me tell you, and then my left wrist kicked in a few hours ago, OH JOY. I have acquired a brace, which mostly just feels like a slightly too-big fingerless glove, different painkillers (I got the ones that said "joint pain & inflammation". I'm not convinced that they worked), and Tiger Balm, which I still firmly believe is magic, because, well, Asian. And it did actually seem to help for a bit. IDK, BODY, JUST FUNCTION NORMALLY PLEASE. I have ordered a laptop stand and it is on its way, because, IDK, maybe that will help? (I've got one at school, but I didn't bring it with me because (a) bulky and (b) its primary function was as a fan, which my old laptop needed but my new laptop doesn't.)

I was not the only one in my course who was fucked up, though at least my fucked-up-edness came from something either than being laid out flat with a wasting sickness; two out of my seven coursemates couldn't make it to class, and I guess several others were various shades of ill. AWW YEAH COLLEGE breeding ground of germs.

Here is a thing that is awesome and makes me desperately, desperately want a movie or a TV show or a book or something about ladies pulling an Ocean's 11 or going on a quest or anything else completely badass. (Yes, I saw St. Trinian's.) I have no idea who most of these actresses are, but (Sarah Connor!) Lena Headey as a genderswapped Dwalin may actually be the best thing I have ever seen.

If I was to theoretically buy some brandy (in the smallest amount possible) for baking and maaaaaybe drinking purposes (honestly, I want to find some kind of alcohol besides tequila that I'm willing to drink and experimenting is hard, but I have actually had brandy before (I think? might have been whiskey) and I can always take it in tea), are there any recommendations?

I was going to do a Hobbit art rec post, but then I made it through all the dwarves but Fili, Kili, and Thorin and quailed at the massive amount of TRULY EXCELLENT FANART out there for our darling boys. So are here five recs randomly selected from my massive collection of Hobbit fanart:

Hmm, maybe I could just do five Hobbit art recs a day. That's not too bad, and I wouldn't get intimidated by the, have I mentioned, massive amount of truly excellent fanart. (Seriously. The fanart for this fandom is the best I've ever seen, both in quantity and quality. And feeeeeeels, omg.) Would that be a thing in which people are interested?

No, no, Tiger Balm is magic regardless of your ethnic background.

I'm glad to hear someone else feels this way! I don't think I've ever had to use it before, but we've always had Tiger Balm in my house growing up. And then I try to explain it to me, and they look at me very strangely when I say things like "magic Asian salve." "No, no, I bought it from a real pharmacy!"

The wrist bracee takes a while towork, and usually in combination with painkillers!

Hopefully a combination of itall makes you feel better. not to add pressure or anything, but it would be best to see a doctor, if only so they can recommend different painkillers that might actually work.

I know, I know! I live in hope. It's not that I have anything against doctors, mind, I think it's just that I grew up with that sort of mindset of "Do it yourself if you can."
