five years

bedlamsbardHave only just realized that today -- well, technically yesterday, I guess, since it's now after midnight -- is actually the date of my five year anniversary in Narnia fandom, which I apparently entered with a freakout and some meta that I'm amazingly still mostly writing to. (First drabble came a couple of days later. First proper fic came about a week and a half later -- that's where the Warsverse name comes from, btw.)
Five years. Wow. Narnia, you and I have been on some ups and downs, but I like to think that there have been more ups than downs. And sure, you've let me see other fandoms (Star Wars, always down for a good time and a fling, also my previous fandom to Narnia), but we've always come back to each other. And I've met some really great people through you (if you're reading this, you're probably one of them, unless you got here through Star Wars, BSG, or CSI:NY -- if you're here from CSI:NY, wow, it's really been a while), and thank you for that. I have made life choices I would not have made were it not for Narnia, including the one that put me in Leicester right now. So, Narnia, thank you for making me a better writer and a better person; thank you for helping me make some great friends; thank you for changing my life.
(However, if you are indirectly responsible for giving me an RSI, I am not terribly pleased about that.)
Let's have another five years, Narnia. (Though if I'm still writing Dust in five years I'm gonna be pretty pissed at myself.)
