bedlamsbardFor the month of October, I'm going to try and post every day, so I'll just barely slip in under the wire today, whoops. (Actually, I probably won't, but whatever.)
Alive, mildly stressed due to family stuff (my mom's abroad -- all three members of my family were abroad IN DIFFERENT COUNTRIES (Britain, Thailand, Japan) over the course of a week and a half, amazingly -- and my dad has the opposite politics to me and talks about them all the time), going through a Star Wars phase, watching a lot of the new TV season: Dancing with the Stars (have y'all SEEN Corbin Bleu dance?), Sleepy Hollow, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., NCIS: LA, Criminal Minds, Elementary, Revenge, Masterchef Junior, am I forgetting anything? Eh, probably; there's a lot of TV on right now.
Currently writing: final chapter of Bad Moon Rising. I've got a couple other stories in the Oxygen and Rust 'verse that I'm playing with, so that might be next. I do find that after I've been working a lot with historical material, like I've been for the past few months for my dissertation, all I want to deal with as a reader and a writer is sci-fi, thus: Star Wars. (It could just as easily have been BSG, but the dice fell on the Star Wars side since I have a WIP in that fandom I've been aching to finish.)
Will probably do NaNoWriMo this year since for the first time in a while I'm not going to be in academic hell this November. Most likely candidates are Revelations 1 or the Prison Break in space novel, but we'll find out come November, I guess.
I really wish sometimes I could just up everything and move back to New Orleans and get a cute house in the Garden District and write novels, but that seems unlikely at this stage in my life. ("Taking a year off to write my novel while applying to PhD programs" sounds so much better than "unemployed college graduate", though, so that's what I'm going with for this year.)
