Why do I always find random Narnian poetry tucked away in odd places in my room?
I can't remember what I wrote this for, but I suspect it's one of the eddas that's mentioned in Dust 21. That, or it's one of the poems Rilian reads in Charmed Life. (Though I suspect the former, given the apotheosis mention, since that wasn't part of the mythology in Rilian's time.)
sing, immortal ancestors, of the gods who were once
kings and queens on earth before their ascent
third-bord, second son, clever Edmund.
Aslan named him Just for he knows
ever the ways of heart and mind.
It was the Witch who first called him:
Jadis, Winter's Queen, who hailed
from a dead world. Because of her,
he is named King of Evening, for the
night must fall before the dawn can
come. He is master of shadows, for
there can be no shadow without some
light.
