Feb. 9th, 2014 05:17 pmI swear I only wrote this scene for completely legitimate reasons that were absolutely necessary for the ongoing plot of this fic. Totally.
Basically, dressed like this. (That's the cover of Star Wars: Republic: #69, "Dreadnaughts of Rendili part one", art by Jan Duuersema and Brad Anderson.) Tragically I had to look at a whole lot of pictures of Ewan McGregor in black leather for reference. Very tragic. Could not -- HOLY CRAP THERE ARE DEER ON MY LAWN which is now covered in snow, btw, I don't know why I'm surprised, this happens all the time.
Anyway, was I saying? Oh, well, I'm sure it wasn't important.
I'm sitting on the Chapter of Unending Agony for a couple of days before I go back and do edits -- I've got to do hard rewrites on a couple of scenes, since they're pretty messy and need to be cleaned up, and since 6 is essentially the climax, it needs to be perfect. Wake 7 is such a huge change of pace from previous chapters -- as you can tell from that excerpt, ha -- that it makes a good brain-change from the Chapter of Unending Agony.
Light blue eyes grinned at her out of a familiar face now dominated by the yellow tattoos of a Kiffar, incongruous but unmistakable beneath the neatly trimmed beard. Padmé was so shocked that all she could do was stare at Obi-Wan, who looked nothing like a Jedi, dressed as he was in a sleeveless black vest and matching leather pants, displaying another Kiffar tattoo on his left bicep. A pair of thigh-holsters held blasters that looked extremely well-used. If he was carrying his lightsaber, Padmé had no idea where he had put it, since she couldn’t spot any likely hiding places.
Her mouth went a little dry.
Obi-Wan ruined it by taking the glass of Corellian brandy out of her hand and draining it, crunching an ice cube between his teeth as he set it down on the counter. He took Padmé’s elbow and steered her towards the back of the cantina. “Let’s go.”
He didn’t sound anything like the posh Coruscanti Jedi she was used to, either.
