I'm playing around with how to start Gamble, since it take up immediately after the end of Wake, but I want to do some scene-setting and it feels weird to start it with everyone reacting to a scene that doesn't appear in the story itself. One of the things I'm considering is doing a "crawl", like the movies do.

Civil war threatens the galaxy. Hundreds of star systems have declared their intentions to leave the Republic and form a Confederacy of Independent Systems.

In the hopes of securing a quick peace, the Jedi Council has dispatched two Jedi Knights to capture or kill the leaders of the separatist movement, Queen Amidala of Naboo and her lover, the former Jedi Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Into this period of conflict have come four refugees from another universe, fleeing a devastating massacre triggered by the death of Supreme Chancellor Palpatine, secretly the Sith lord Darth Sidious, at the hands of Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker…

Yay! I like the idea of doing that sort of prologue-y crawl, but it sort of seems...presumptuous? I don't know. Or like it should go in the summary instead of at the top of the story.

Hey, the crawl is just as much a part of the story as the conclusion. I still say stick it it in.
