Because I was at the point where if I didn't write it down, I was going to start contradicting myself fairly frequently. Um, ask questions if there's something confusing and/or especially interesting on here? A lot of major events aren't right now just because I'm not positive when they actually happened.

Okay... Well this is great thanks! I can't wait to see all this elaborated but reading this makes me very excited. I like knowing what I'm going to read further even though it does kind of ruin the surprise but still! I have a question I had ever since finding out the Queen Amidalla is both the Queen of Naboo and the President of the Confederacy... is that allowed. I mean she has a lot of power there, and she can't just very well do two things at once. It's like have Barack as both the senator of Illinois and being President at the same time.

Huh I just found out that the District of Columbia doesn't have any legal representation.. that's weird.

Anyway just wondering. And also about the amending of Naboo's constitution. I'm guessing that mean Queen Amidalla won't be queen forever, huh..

This is for Queen's Gambit, which is part of the Ouroboros series. This timeline is all backstory to Gambit itself, so when I was writing it I could keep track of what happened when.

The Articles of Confederation for the Gambitverse Confederacy of Independent Systems do not forbid the president from holding a government office in their home system; this follows canon, where Count Dooku is both the leader of the CIS and the ruler of the planet Serenno. The CIS isn't the United States; it bears a superficial similarity to the original thirteen colonies in the Revolutionary War but it's not that close, and looking at real world analogues isn't going to be particularly helpful. In essence it's an alliance of different planets who can mostly only agree on the fact that they want out of the Republic; they're all self-governed and have their own law codes and forms of government, with no laws that apply universally throughout the Confederacy.

That Naboo offered to amend its constitution in order to allow Amidala to hold office past two terms is also from canon (it's mentioned in Attack of the Clones); in the universe it actually went through, due to the changed circumstances of the AU.
