bedlamsbardLast week I was a day early on the Wednesday reading meme, this week I'm a day late. You win some, you lose some, I guess.
What I've just finished reading
Two romance novels in Lauren Dane's Ink & Chrome series, Opening Up and Falling Under -- I liked the second one better than the first, I think. Romance usually isn't my genre of choice, but I do read it occasionally. Star Wars: X-Wing: Mercy Kill by Aaron Allston, which is sort of a "get the band back together" novel -- it takes place, I think, thirty years after the last X-Wing novel and I may or may not have cried at the end. I also finished my reread of Mercedes Lackey & James Mallory's The Outstretched Shadow.
In short story/novella territory, I reread Scott Lynch's A Year and a Day in Old Theradane, and am also slowly working my way through Barbara Hambly's short stories, which are now available on Kindle. (They are a little more expensive than I usually like to pay for short stories, but I do love Barbara Hambly, so I'm rationing them.) This week I read Princess, which is a Winterlands short. Also, Seanan McGuire's Kindle serial Indexing: Reflections started this week, so I read the first installation in that.
What I'm currently reading
A reread of To Light a Candle by Mercedes Lackey & James Mallory, the second Obsidian Mountain book, and another reread of Stories of the Raksura Vol. 2: The Dead City & the Dark Earth Below by Martha Wells. I've got stalled reads on Beyond Jealousy by Kit Rocha, The Fifth Season by N.K. Jemisin, and Rivers and the Power of Ancient Rome by Brian Campbell. (I'll usually call something a stall if it's been more than about three days since the last time I picked it up, but I still feel like I'm actively reading it.)
What I'm reading next
The third Obsidian Mountain book and then, uh...probably trying to work through the stalls. Though it's not like I have a shortage of stuff to read.
