Sep. 4th, 2006 03:33 pm1. They're in the mirror room of that prison facility in that Inhuman 'verse and Danny's standing by the mirror trying to make it work backwards and panicking, with Colonel Taylor and Major Bonasera and the two Marines firing over their heads at the guards that just keep getting up when Captain Flack -- it's only later that Danny finds out he's not really Captain Donald Flack, Jr., of the United States Air Force, but by then it doesn't matter -- shoves him out of the way and splays his palm out on the orichalc frame, demanding the coordinates in a harsh military voice. Danny gapes at him, but Bonasera tosses off a string of numbers over her shoulder and Flack just nods, pressing the tip of his index finger to tiny carvings all over the frame. He then wastes no time whatsoever shoving Danny into the glass as soon as the wormhole forms and they can see the MVC mirror room back home. It's not till later he thinks there was something wrong with this.
2. Mac meets Detective Stella Bonasera in one of the most horrific crime scenes he's ever seen in a long history of horrific crime scenes. It's so bad CSU is working hand in hand with SVU, which is why he and Bonasera end up side by side in a dark warehouse surrounded by crying children, which is a memory that will give him nightmares for years to come. They go out for drinks that night and he ends up telling her about the Corps, his failing marriage with Claire, and that his father is the CEO of Taylor Industries. In return, Stella tells him about working Narco and growing up in the orphanage. He's never gotten along so well with anyone, not even his wife.
3. He's down at the Last Chance slumming with the cops -- know your enemy, Uncle Val always says, and Danny believes him -- when he sees an unfamiliar face. A few questions gets him a name and a description -- "Don Flack, Jr," Maka from Homicide tells him. "He's Homicide, works with the Crime Lab, but trust me, he's a perpetual fuck-up. He'll turn you in in a heartbeat if he finds out what you are."
"He looks lonely," Danny says earnestly, and goes over to make friends. Flack recognizes his name; Danny knows that from the quick gleam in his extraordinary blue eyes, but he doesn't start screaming, "Mafia! Mafia! Danny Constantine! Mafia!" which is a plus, as far as Danny's concerned. It's only the next morning that Danny realizes they were both using each other to find out information about the other team.
4. By the time Mac gets to the address on the radio, the door's already been kicked open and the hallway is full of angry cops, including a Narco detective that's biting off the head of anyone that breathes funny. Mac shoves his way through. "Detective Taylor," he says, pulling out his badge. "Crime Scene Unit."
"Detective Flack, Narco," the stranger detective snaps back. "That's my partner in there; you couldn'ta come a little faster?" he yells over Mac's head, and Mac turns around to see the EMTs barreling up the stairs. "There's also a corpse," he adds to Mac, as an afterthought. "That bastard sonuvabitch Stella was dating finally got what was comin' to him." He sounds deeply satisfied, then turns around abruptly to go back in. Mac follows him.
5. Flack's stronger than him, but Danny's quicker and hasn't been sitting on his ass for the better part of a year. He finally gets Flack facedown on the floor and jabs his good knee into the small of his back. "Listen," he snarls, spitting blood off to the side, "I know you're not real fond of cops at the moment, especially not the MCU, but neither am I --"
"Funny considering you are one," Flack snaps at the floorboards.
"You know why?" Danny fists his palms into Flack's shirt and holds him down as he makes a concerted effort to get up. Muscle shifts beneath the fabric. "Because Stella fucking Bonasera killed my horse and Mac fucking Taylor took my shine and replaced it with a dead man's, that's why. And that's exactly what they're gonna do to you if you don't listen to me."
"Let 'em try," Flack said, and suddenly Danny had fucking wings in his face and he was flying back to hit the wall as Flack rose. "They'd better have sharp knives."
(Mirrorverse, sorry, brain is full)
1. That time Danny and Flack were trapped in the superhero 'verse and Flack had just kicked total ass; Danny was pretty turned on and he was also pretty sure Flack wouldn't mention it once they were back on Earth.
2. Before Flack pushed Danny through the mirror on VRC-115 and smashed the glass, he was really thinking of kissing Danny since he knew he was going to die.
3. When Danny and X-452 rescued Flack from the Inhumans, he was ready to kiss him for all of ten seconds before Flack tried to kill him with his bare hands.
4. The second time Flack gets failsafe and everyone in the MVC thought he was going to die, Danny was sitting at his bedside holding his hand even if Aiden told him that Flack would strangle him with the other before he said thank you. He was going to die; Danny had already missed his chance once. But then he opened his eyes and did try to strangle him.
5. When Flack leaves Kaile and comes back through the mirror with a nuke and his memory really back, Danny's pretty damn glad to see him, even though he's also a little worried about the big-ass bomb he's carrying. Hey, if the world's gonna end, might as well take the chance, right?

Date: 2006-09-05 11:41 pm (UTC)As for the second set...yes, the Mirrorverse really is that cracked out. Think Stargate and Dark Angel with the CSI:NY characters and parallel universes. (http://bedlamsbard.livejournal.com/69518.html)

Date: 2006-09-06 01:07 am (UTC)I feel bad that the second set is all mirrorverse. Here, have a canon set:
1. After the Minhas shooting, when Danny was sitting in the diner looking like Mac had just taken his badge, Flack looked at him and just wanted, to touch, to make it all better, to make sure Danny knew that there was one member of the lab still on his side. But then Danny set his jaw and looked away, and the moment passed.
2. Danny hears the rumors trickle down through the grapevine, so he goes out to Sullivan's to find Flack in a corner deep in his cups and being avoided by all the other cops in the bar. Even Stella and Aiden are on the other side of the room with Maka and a pool table. He's not stared at, exactly, when he sits down next to Flack, but he can feel the eyes sliding past him. Flack looks at him -- past him, really -- and starts to reach for him, like he needs to make sure Danny doesn't think he's a virus and untouchable. Flack's drunk. Danny's hoping to get there. Things could happen.
3. Flack's the one to tell Danny about Aiden. When Danny comes in he's sprawled on his couch watching the Rangers lose horribly and getting drunk, and he doesn't look up. Danny drops down next to him, takes the beer out of his hand, and says, "What'dya wanna tell me?" Flack looks over and kisses him. Or doesn't. Maybe he just tells him. All Danny knows afterwards is that he was too plastered to remember anything that happened after he sat down.
4. After Stella shoots the maintenance man -- Flack can't remember his name, not when he's bleeding all over the floor and there's a fucking ear in a jar sitting on the coffee table -- Flack can't keep his hands off Danny, just to make sure he's alive, that he's all right. Touching a little more once the doc's left the room at the hospital -- Danny's fine, he keeps insisting -- isn't a problem, is it? Or maybe it is.
5. Danny's never been so happy and so terrified to see anyone as he is that time they carry Flack out of the building on a stretcher. It's not like Flack would remember it, completely unconscious that he is, but there are people around, including Mac and Stella and a lot of media.

Date: 2006-09-07 12:34 am (UTC)I mean...*cough* Well, I didn't know what you wanted, and I have really weird morals, and I felt bad, so. I mean, I could have done bardverse, but those all probably did happen, so. Or one of the superhero 'verses, but I don't think of anything but the bardverse as having romance. I'm going through a gen phase right now, at least with CSI:NY.
