School ends one week from today. What we're about to see is Bedlam's "Oh my God, I actually have to apply to college. Oh my God, I actually have to figure out where the hell I want to spend the next four years of my life" flail. *headdesk ad lib*

And I get to add to that list, narrow it down, and throw darts at it.

Will could see Elizabeth standing on the gallows, head raised proudly and silver-gilt hair flying in the wind. They'd already put the rope around her neck, her and the rest of her crew.

"Elizabeth!" Will screamed, heedless of who might hear. "Elizabeth!"

Someone was reading the charges against her in a high clear voice that carried across the yard. Will shoved his way through the crowd, screaming his wife's name. People scattered to the sides, eyes wide and frightened, and he almost made it to the gallows before a pair of redcoats caught hold of his arms.

"No," Will said, struggling wildly. "No, damn you, no. That's my wife! Elizabeth!"

"Will," Elizabeth said as the hangman came back down along hte line, "I'm glad I saw your face again, before --"

"Elizabeth, no," he pleaded, tears running down his cheeks. "No, no --"

"I've always loved --"

She died quickly: Will heard her neck snap.

If you go to Standford, I will have to call you Sam Winchester for the rest of your life, and randomly quote SPN at you every time you mention Palo Alto or school.

I have a personal hatred towards Duke. I applied because my mom told me to (because psh, it was easier just to apply than to listen to her whine about how I was never going to get a job if I didn't go to a Good School), and didn't get in, but a C+ average kid from my high school got in on a basketball scholarship, full-ride, which pisses me off something awful.

GO TO COLUMBIA AND I'LL BE IN NYC TOO HOPEFULLY AND WE CAN HANG OUT OVER COFFEE AND TALK ABOUT TRACTORS AND COWS.

The PotC/SPN scene made be immensely happy. You are evil, yes, but I didn't like Liz much, so I'm sorta glad she's gone. Also, Angsty! Will is a fantastic thing to read. And ew, bonus points for the last line about neck snapping.

Hell, if I go to Stanford I'll quote SPN at myself. I love Stanford, though; the campus is gorgeous.

I really have no opinion towards Duke one way or another. *shrugs* I like that it's in North Carolina, although in that case I could just apply to Chapel Hill. Well, Duke is the Harvard of the South.

THAT WOULD BE AWESOME. I am hoping to apply to a school in New York, but I'm not sure I actually want to go there.

I waver between liking her and not liking her. But, I mean, she kind of has to die, and Will kind of has to not, so I might as well make it horribly tragic! Although, uh, he may, uh, be seeing her again. Sort of. In a sort of -- non-living, escaped-from-Hell capacity.

What, you think I'd let her strangle to death? That would be mean.

Greg Sanders went to Stanford! (I only know this because I just signed up to RP him).

Duke is a gorgeous school, and a wonderful school. I'm just bitter.

*laughs* What, you think I'd let her strangle to death? That would be mean. I don't put it past you ;)

Yes, but more importantly Sam Winchester went to Stanford. Much more badass.

Duke has crazy athletics? Also, their marching band is D.U.M.B.

It's much more dramatic to have her snap her neck. Plus, I left out the part where Will cuts her down and cries into her golden hair and tries to bring her back from the dead, only it doesn't work because he's on land, not sea.

Duke totally has crazy athletics.

But does he have a Dean? I think not.

They also just had a big scandal. Yeah, like that's new (er, referring to college in general, not specifically Duke).

I don't know what to write. *throws things* *writes original fic*

No, but he has a Nick Stokes, which, mmh. Man, Texas boys sure win. You've got Jared and Jensen, Nick Stokes, John Sheppard from SGA... hells yeah.

Yeah, I heard about the scandal. With the lacrosse team, yeah?

WRITE LOVERLY LOVERLY POTC FIC! Or OC fic, cause that's awesome too!

Is Sheppard canonically from Texas now? *curious*

That's the one.

I've been rewatching a lot of Dark Angel lately, so I went back to my genetically engineered killing machine writing (which is, uh, basically my attempt to take some of what DA posited and rework it so it makes sense to me). *pets characters* And a little bit of McAuliffe on Earth at the feminist convention, which I think is actually going to take the place of the school reunion in terms of being interrupted by terrorists.

Sheppard's always been from Texas. I'm almost certain that's canon. Maybe not. Maybe it's just a fanon invention, although I've read in a LOT of fics that he's from north Texas. Hrm.

Maybe because of the USAF bases here?

I still haven't seen season two of Dark Angel. I own the first season, but I never could afford the second one, and I missed it when it aired on TV.

All the fic I've read has him being from everywhere -- military brat, yeah? Specifically down south, but some California, too. I don't think I've read anything where he's from Texas.

Er. How many spoilers do you want? Because you can hear my Dark Angel rant and my reasoning and a lot about my original fic.

Most of the fics I've read say that yeah, he moved around a lot as a kid, but his dad eventually attained a rank high enough to choose his own base and settle down, and Texas is where he lived for the most part.

Meh, who knows.

I already know most of the spoilers!

Okay! (Er. Sorry for pushing it on you?)

The thing is that S1 and S2 read (so to speak) like two completely different shows. I like 'em both, but for different reasons, and S2 frustrates me in a lot of ways. Ideally, to make them work out, I'd want another season in between S1 and S2 (or, I should properly say, somewhere in the middle of S1) and a season in the middle of S2, because the transition? Yeah, not so much, and they could have done it. It frustrates me muchly, and they dropped plotlines that they really could have used (of course, it doesn't help that the show got cancelled), like the original run away X5s. Well, you can see what I would have done with a third season here (http://bedlamsbard.livejournal.com/119598.html). *sigh*

Also, I have to go to dinner, so I'll get back to you on the rest of my ravings.

No need to apologize, I'm interested :D

Having not seen season two, I can't really agree or disagree with this, although I know what you mean about wanting another season dropped into the middle of season 1. Although, my grievance with the first season is that it's so monotonous... every episode is the exact same, almost, except for the handful of eps that actually move the plot forward.

Mmh, dinner. I just had dessert.

Wow, I just had really bitter fights with both my parents over two completely different subjects. FUCK YOU, WORLD.

Okay, happier subjects now.

One of the things that really annoys me in S2 is that they're ignoring something that's really interesting, which is the dichotomy between Max's upbringing and Alec. They mention it very, very briefly in "The Berrisford Agenda", but otherwise it's ignored. Actually, Alec in general is marginalized a lot of the time in favor of Max as Superwoman and Also The Chosen One (gag me with a spoon), but the fact is that Alec was trained from birth to age twenty to be a killing machine and Max wasn't, Max left. Where're the eps where Alec has trouble adjusting to the world? It's practically canon that he did very little actual fieldwork because of various causes -- the fact that he was in isolation and Psy Ops for a year because of what Ben did, the fact that he was in isolation before that (I think) because of Rachel Berrisford. And I'm sick of the fact that he's always portrayed as being a worse fighter than Max, because at the very least he should be her equal, if not her better. On the other hand, she probably has more real-world experience.

That's one of the things I liked about the first season. Zack, Ben, Tinga, Syl, Krit -- all of them were portrayed as being about the same or better than Max. S2 went off on Max being The One, and Chosen One plots drive me insane. I also liked the atmosphere of S1 a whole lot better.

Wanna hear about my originals in relation to DA? (I'm sorry. I'm just whining all over you today.)

Coincidentally enough, SO DID I. Man, parents suck. I fled the house for an hour to get away, because god sometimes I just do not need the drama.

That's a major failing of a lot of TV shows, unfortunately: they fail to pay attention to anyone except the central character, and often damage both the secondary and central characters at the same time, by underplaying the former and overplaying the latter until you're just damn sick of him/her.

I liked a lot of the S1 characters. Especially Zach, who showed that Max is really flawed and too weak, almost, because she can't save herself and her loved ones because she can't bring herself to leave them.

To DA?

My dad left the house and went up to our cabin. Do I care? I don't care.

It's a failing of a lot of different media -- it tends to show up a lot in TV shows, though, because they run a lot of characters over a long period of time. I thought they were handling it pretty well in S1, but in relation S2 was a disaster, because there was so much potential and they tossed it away.

On the other hand, in regard to musicals, at least, I've noticed that the secondary characters are a lot more interesting than the mains -- the mains' love story or whatnot is always really predictable and boring, while the secondaries are always quirky and fascinating.

I loved Zack. It seems like everyone else in the DA fandom hates him, but he was one of hte most real of all the characters, because he was trying to save them, all of them, and Max didn't understand -- Max never understood. Still didn't in S2. Also, Zack's exit in the finale killed me. I was pretty disappointed with the way they brought him back in S2.

Well, the original that deals with the genetically engineered government issue supersoldiers, anyway.

Man, I wish I had a cabin or something to go to. My parents and I rarely get along, it's kinda sad, but they treat me like I'm 15, not 21, so whatever to them.

Okay, I'm slow on the uptake tonight, and didn't realize what DA was in the previous comment. So YES, tell me about your OC vs DA ;)

Zack was an awesome character, I agree. He was a bit of an ass, but he was down to earth, and his only goal was to care for those who couldn't take care of themselves, his brothers and sisters, and to keep them safe, and I respect that. Max was a bitch to him, anyways.

I really need to get and watch s2 someday!
