On the subject of Deathly Hallows, all I have to say is:

Squeak!

and that I will have to think about it, except for the ending, which I hated a whole lot on general principle, because I hate "[insert number of years] later" epilogues. Especially since apparently the first thing everyone did after defeating Voldemort was get married and make babies. ARGH. ARGH ARGH ARGH. And, frankly, the multitude of new names was the most confusing thing ever. (And I can't believe Harry named his kids James, Lily, and Albus Severus. WHAT ABOUT SIRIUS, OH MY GOD.)

Also, some of this stuff really should have been inserted into earlier books. If I was JKR, I'd, like, want to rewrite the entire series right now.

Also, McGonagall is WIN. So is Percy. Kid James and Sirius forever, hurrah! And Ron and Hermione! Now that's the best played romance I've read anywhere, I swear to God.

Fandom totally called it, by the way. *waggles eyebrows*

Dude, I totally called it on one of the twins kicking it.

Also, I note that Molly Weasley is the first (and only) one to really swear in all seven books, and it's at Bellatrix Lestrange. AWESOME.

Draco...could have had more to do. Especially with the "Draco Malfoy is the true holder of the Elder Wand" shit; it felt glossed over and thrown in. I would like a little bit of heroism, please. Or even true villainy.

Dude, Crabbe and Goyle had lines.

I feel that Rowling went through the previous six books going, "Okay, what have I briefly mentioned before and how can I make it show up again?"

I want an icon with graffiti "Dumbledore's Army. Still recruiting." on it. For some reason, that got to me.

Coming home is weird. Man, I'd like to go to college now; I don't know if I can put up with my parents for another year. At the risk of sounding mean, half the reason I did the program was to get away from home, because I spend a lot of time in the house and so much of it is with my parents that it gets...stifling. And claustrophobic. And now I'm back home, and I'm so used to the freedom of Brown and Providence that it's really claustrophobic. New plan: go to college somewhere decent-sized. (By the way, the pile of college stuff I got over the course of four weeks is Really Thick.) Also, reconsidering the Ivy League, because I did, in the end, like Brown.

I miss the freedom of Brown. I even miss the people, because it is very comforting to always have people around, even for a loner like me. I miss Providence, and the weather in Rhode Island. Well, not the rain. *sigh*

Also, I watched the 2004 version of Return of the Jedi, and had one, "Dude, what the fuck is this shit?" moment, but followed that up with Revenge of the Sith -- look, I was packing, it was background noise that I turned around and watched a lot -- and am this close to going on a hardcore Star Wars kick. Which, okay, I was on before I watched the endpieces of both trilogies, but I'm talking hardcore here, guys.

Must finish revising the [livejournal.com profile] apocalyptothon story first, though. *beckons* Bring it on, Calypso. Do your best.

I think I need an HP icon for the occasion. *goes to search*

It doesn't actually rain as much as they say, either. Apparently. *rolls eyes* It just. Doesn't do anything for me except make me hate it. I'd much rather go back east.

...work? *sigh* Yes, yes, I know.

I'd much rather live in NYC or somewhere thereabouts, but I think Seattle and San Francisco are my next choices.

It's not difficult work, though!

San Fran. Also horrible weather. Clearly, I know how to pick 'em. Stanford's nice all year 'round. *happy sigh*

Well, I've more or less figured out what schools I'll apply to, but the problem is most of the schools are schools I'd have to fight my way into kicking and screaming, so I have to find at least a couple schools I'm really likely to get into, so if all the others turn me down I can go somewhere besides the UW.

Yeah, but I can't go anywhere too hot, because I'll die, and the same with anywhere too cold. Plus, everywhere has terrible weather, when you think about it. The entire mid-west has tornadoes. Northwest is rain, southwest is nasty heat and humidy, southeast is hurricanes and northeast is blizzards.

Well, yes, but I'd rather have a season of horrible weather that I can just spend indoors than a year full of drizzly weather. Nowhere is perfect. *shrug*

Yep, too true. I've never lived in NYC, Seattle, or SanFran, though I've visited two of the three, but I think I'd be happy in any of them.

I've visited three of the three, and I think I could handle it, but I don't particularly want to. I liked Providence, though; it's not helping with the whole "narrowing down colleges" thing, at least location-wise, because I'm suddenly leaning away from small college towns.

Having the freedom to go out and do things means you want things to do, I found. Iowa City was 60,000 people, and 25,000 of those were students/staff at the university, so I found myself going crazy on vacations when I didn't go home. Big cities, though, are so much better, because there's things to do, concerts and plays and events.

See, I don't do much, but I'd like to have the opportunity to do what I want to do. And...I don't like being stuck in my house. Right now. I mean.

And by then I'll be back to being terrified. God. I'm the most indecisive person ever.
