(no subject)
Jul. 27th, 2010 11:38 amI think I have figured out why I am having an easier time with Latin than I had with German or Japanese. I'm a much better visual learner than I am an aural learner; with German and Japanese I was also trying to pick up the sound of the language at the same time as everything else in the world (including with Japanese, the three different alphabets ARGH), but with Latin I don't have to worry about having a conversation in the language, I just have to be able to read it. Which is much easier for me, as I am very good at shuffling words around quickly into an English order and testing different meanings and sounding out how sentences should sound.
(Also, I have no problem having a noun like "fate" or "duty" or "reason" as the subject of a sentence, which I've noticed a lot of people in my class do, and may possibly say something about my general pattern of thought, which is...odd.)
