Three good things right now.

1. Fresh, sweet, local strawberries.

2. Laundry in washing machine -- I almost never do laundry during the week, but I went to put it in today and this is the first time I've ever been in the laundry room after it's been cleaned (usually I do laundry Saturday mornings), and it's nice and organized and there aren't dirty socks or underwear or stray detergent bottles strewn around and it makes me smile. And I didn't have to fight anyone for a washer.

3. Nice sunny 73 F day out. Gorgeous.

I'll say this for New Orleans, it's a whackjob of a city, but sometimes it makes up for it.

...I just got an e-mail from Housing reminding me to turn in an application if I want to live on campus next year. They had the move-in dates, and, oh my god, the move-in date from spring semester 2012 is JANUARY 14, 2012. Do you know what this means? THIS MEANS I WILL BE HOME FOR MY BIRTHDAY FOR THE FIRST TIME IN THREE YEARS. I am so happy I could cry, this is the best news I have had in a long time. I hate having my birthday at school, and for once I won't! SO EXCITING.

Bonus Narnia content: new headcanon devised while hopping up to Whole Foods to buy more strawberries. Caspian puts on a lot of court masques while he's king, primarily because his wife enjoys them; they stop after the queen dies. The last one was written, but never performed until at least two generations after Rilian's reign, because of its content. The writer was a halfblood dwarf, like Cornelius, and a lot of the masques took their content from events or legends set during the Golden Age, or occasionally earlier. The unplayed masque was, unfortunately, the Masque of the World Below, which explains why it wasn't performed for a very long time.

While we're on a Narnia subject. I cannot believe I missed the opportunity to subtitle Dust 21 "Lucy in the earth with diamonds." Sure, no one would have known it but me, but damn, what a missed opportunity! (Actual subtitle was "into the diamond mines." Considerably less amusing.)
