We were discussing how sometimes we have plot bunnies that we don't so much want to write, but we want to READ. You have those? Let's talk about them!

Pick 3 plot bunnies for stories you'd really like to READ, but don't have time to write, or don't feel qualified to write.

1. Farscape, in a vaguely season two/three-shaped place: Jack Crichton and D.K. have finally managed to convince the IASA to send someone after John, a.k.a. through that goddamn still there wormhole. They go through, and are promptly captured by Scorpius, who figures out that they're friends of Crichton's, and uses Jack Crichton and D.K. to lure Crichton back to the command carrier. He goes, and rescues D.K., but Jack is gone and so is Scorpius. Then there is drama and hijinks aboard Moya and Harvey makes an appearance and D.K. makes some disparaging comments about Crichton's mental state and gets growled at by D'Argo. And then Scorpius shows up and offers to trade Jack for Crichton, so off John goes. And then he goes a little crazy and shoots some people and...something. Yes. Not written because I don't have a good enough feel for Farscape.

2. Stargate Atlantis, futurefic, AU-like: After Atlantis has been destroyed and most of its personnel KIA, Rodney McKay is teaching at some smalltown state university (think "Freedom's Just Another Word for Nothing Left to Lose"), when SGC personnel show up -- with John Sheppard, who Rodney saw die on Atlantis. It turns out this John is from an alternate universe where everyone died but him; the Wraith made him a Runner and he's been running for the past however many years until he finally stumbled over some weird Ancient tech or something that sent him to this universe, where he somehow managed to make it back to the Milky Way and the SGC. Also, the Wraith are totally on their way to Earth. Possibly two sets of Wraith, alternate universe Wraith and this universe Wraith. Whoops. John/Rodney. Not written because I don't have a good enough feel for Stargate Atlantis.

3. Numb3rs, season four-ish: Don takes a temporary position at Quantico to teach baby FBI agents how to deal with civilians and some other stuff. Meanwhile, back in L.A., Amita breaks up with Charlie and Charlie gets really depressed and spends a lot of time terrorizing his students and doing really complex math and stalking Don's team to do math for things that don't really require math. And Colby, because God, Colby already does this in canon, calms him down and spends a lot of time with him and wears him out playing basketball and teaching him how to, I don't know, shoot or something. And Charlie makes a move and Colby freaks out a little bit -- not because of heterosexual panic, more because Don will kill him if he sleeps with his little brother. And then they stumble around doing the whole relationship thing until Don comes back from Quantico and gets picked up at LAX by David. He calls the house, Colby picks up, which is a fun and awkward moment, and then everyone gets distracted by a case. And I got nothing beyond that. Not written because of the "nothing beyond that" part, and also the part where I was writing my novel and can now apparently work on nothing but my novel.

number two! killing time

Rodney is explaining basic geophysics to a handful of bored sophomores and juniors, most of which are more interested in IMing their friends in Jakobsen's class next door than listening to him, when a pair of uniformed airmen appear at his door.

"Go away," he says without breaking stride and goes on about the Earth's core and why Hollywood is magnificently, brilliantly wrong, which should never be a surprise but somehow always is. But his students are even more distracted now, and then Samantha Carter says, "Rodney."

"Carter," he returns.

"Rodney," she says again, and then pitches her voice louder and says, "Okay, guys, class is dismissed. I have to talk to Dr. McKay."

"No, hold on, class is not dismissed --" But his students are already fleeing like they've been released from bondage, and Rodney turns his furious eyes on Carter, who's a little older, with a little more gray in her hair and a few more lines on her face. Time does that to people. Rodney's not exactly the man he was either. "I told you I'm not interested," he says, and starts packing up his things, because if he's not teaching then maybe he can get some quality time in the lab.

"Rodney, listen to me for five minutes," Carter says, and from her tone, it's not a suggestion.

Rodney gave up listening to the United States Air Force seven years ago. He turns his back, disconnects his laptop from the outlet, and starts stuffing it into his computer bag with extreme prejudic.

Carter sighs and says, "Bring him in," to the airmen behind her.

"Oh, for -- are you planning to have me arrested?" Rodney demands. "I haven't broken my nondisclosures, if that's what you're worried about. I have better things to do with my abundant free time." He slams his bag down on the podium and turns around. And stops.

Because John Sheppard has just walked in. And Rodney saw him die seven years ago, very messily and very permanently.

"Hey, man, how'd you know I was coming in tonight?" Don asks, and David just grins and says something about confidential sources.

At three in the morning even LA's traffic is muted, and Don fumbles his phone out of his pocket, turns it on, and dials home. The phone only rings once before someone picks it up, and Don's about to lecture Charlie on why sleep is important even for math geniuses when Colby says in a low, rough voice, "Hello?"

"Colby?" Don says, surprised, and his first thought is that Charlie has gotten another death threat and no one's told him about it. "What the hell are you doing at my house? Is Charlie okay?"

"Don?" Colby says, sounding a little more awake, and then there's a sound like sheets rustling and someone -- Charlie -- says, "Is that Don? Give me the phone?"

"Just a second," Colby says to Don and (presumably) passes on the phone later.

Charlie sounds a little desperate when he says, "Don, hi, how was Quantico?"

"Fine," Don says. "What's going on? Why is Colby there?"

"I," Charlie says, "Uh. Well --"

And it's been so long since Don's heard Charlie speechless about anything that he's about ready to take the wheel from David and turn on the siren to get home as fast as possible. Then David's phone goes off, along with (presumably) Colby's in the background of Charlie's call, and David says, "Sorry, Don, I kinda have to take this."

In the background, Colby is saying more or less the same thing to Charlie and Charlie says, hurriedly, "Don? I'll meet you there," and hangs up on Colby's protests.

"What the hell's going on?" Don demands of David, who's occupying himself turning the siren on.

"I think I should let Charlie tell you that," David says, which is one of the least encouraging things Don's ever heard, and he's an FBI agent; he's heard a lot of less than encouraging things.

They get to the scene after Colby and Charlie; Megan is kneeling down next to a body. Don gets out of the car to see Charlie trip and Colby catch hin, quick and suddenly careful, fingers lingering a little on Charlie's arm. Charlie turns his head to say something to him and Don's breath stops in his throat, because he's never seen Charlie look like that at anyone before, not even Amita.

"So it's like that," Don says, surprised at how calm his voice is, even though he's pretty sure he wants to grab Colby by the shoulders and shake him.

David glances at him. "Yeah," he says. "It's like that."
