bedlamsbard: natasha romanoff from the black widow prelude comic (battle (timeless-x-love))

Okay, the next time I come up with a bright idea like this five-POV fic, tell me not to do it. Because there's a point where writing the same scene five times -- and I'm only on number three, oh my God -- gets old. And, no, I can't just copypaste, because they all notice different things. It's at the point where Edmund just tunes the whole ceremony out.

*beats head into desk* After this? Something fun. I vote for Caspian in the Golden Age, although apparently the rest of you vote for immortal Susan and resurrected Peter. (I, uh, have a plot now.)

It's probably not "something fun", except for eschatologically obsessed types like myself, but someday I'd really be interested in your take on how The Last Battle myth (it's a myth in your personal canon, am I right?) got started.

Well, it's not one of those things I think about much, because it's not the sort of thing I like to think about much, but I've always thought that it's probably related to something the White Witch says in The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe:
"You at least know the Magic which the Emperor put into Narnia at the very beginning. You know that every traitor belongs to me as my lawful prey and that for every treachery I have a right to a kill. [...] And so," continued the Witch, "that human creature is mine. His life is forfeit to me. His blood is my property."

"Come and take it then," said the Bull with the man's head in a great bellowing voice.

"Fool," said the Witch with a savage smile that was almost a snarl, "do you really think your master can rob me of my rights by mere force? He knows the Deep Magic better than that. He knows that unless I have blood as the Law says all Narnia will be overturned and perish in fire and water."

"It is very true," said Aslan, "I do not deny it."

In which case, the Last Battle myth is rooted in treason of the highest kind, treason unavenged, which is more or less what Shift's actions are.

It is interesting to note that the White Witch is given her duty by the Emperor-over-the-Sea -- and Aslan kills her, leaving the "Emperor's hangman" position, as the Beavers call it, open.

Interesting! Thank you.

I really wanted to reread Last Battle, but it and Magician's Nephew were out of the library, so I checked out all but the chronological "bookends". As a kid, those two were far and away my favorites, though I loved them all, so I was really surprised to find out as an adult how many people actively dislike them.

Hmm. The "Emperor's hangman" would make her roughly analogous to the oldest view we have of Satan, which was an angel who was, essentially, God's prosecutor. All evil deeds stem from God, who permits them? Hmm. But I'm no theologian. : )

And the closest I come to understanding Christianity was reading Paradise Lost, so what do I know? *grin*

I really like the idea of the end of Narnia being rooted in treason, somehow, and of it being Aslan's own fault because he destroyed the White Witch, who traditionally punishes traitors. *ponders*

Something fun?
Well, it's really hard to choose between Caspian in Golden Age and the immortal Susan and drugged up Peter fic. They both sound incredibly fun, so hmm...

Immortal Susan and drugged up Peter is less sheer fun and a little more drama, I think.

That is true, also I think the amount of Pevensies should be taken into account. In which story would you find more Sibling Snark?

Well, immortal Susan story is Susan and Peter, and Caspian-in-the-Golden-Age is Peter and Edmund, so...the latter one.

Sorry for intruding, I just kind of pass by...

But really, I love your idea about Caspian in Golden Age! The prospect! Fantastic! I would really love if there's an actual fic about it.

I think I want to write Caspian in the Golden Age for sheer culture shock alone. More savage place indeed. *snort*

I did not want to write AU in this fandom, but apparently Narnia has other ideas.

But you're so awesome at AUs.

Narnia, being an AU of the bible, has no place objecting. ;)

*brightly* Well, technically it's not an AU, since it happens after the end of the books.

It's that or my head explodes! (I have a reached a state of cheerful zen. Similar to the state I was in after I gave up caring what I got on tests or papers. Oh, and now I remember that right after I said that was when That Bitch jumped down my throat about how that wasn't what zen meant at all. Well, there went my state of cheerful zen.)

You know, I was thinking about that when I was working out a post-movie fic from Prunaprismia's POV. "Wait, wouldn't they be right in the middle of the Pacific War? Nice one, Aslan."
