Oh, shit, plot. For the thing I am not writing. Actually, said plot manages to combine both the things I'm not writing, with that character who is a hallucination.

It manages to be epic romance, epic tragedy, and two (or three?) different AUs AT ONCE.

Of course, I am not writing it. Because it does not exist. Because that character is a hallucination.

It was very odd. I kept trying to angle my computer screen away and hope my dad didn't come look over my shoulder to see what I was writing. About two hours in I gave up on it and switched to knitting instead.

*sulks* Our lovely options at the moment are more Peter/Caspian/Peta, Peta/Caspian post-battle, Peta/Caspian when she (finally) tells him she's pregnant, and Peter/Peta in the Pevensie house.

*grumbles* I have got to stop writing stuff in comments if only because I keep accidentally clicking out of it and deleting everything. God damn it. Peta was pregnant! Caspian was panicking! Everyone was still wearing clothes! Why am I going to be known as the writer who knocked up Peter Pevensie?

Yes! You should put it all into documents! And then write it up properly!

I am...compromising by putting it into KeyNote, where it's much easier to organize everything. Because I'm not writing anything, but organizing I can do!

I will...admit I'm writing it and start a Word document if I can come up with a title.

No, it's not. If I find something that will make a good title, I will, unfortunately, have a fic.

On the other hand, I now have a soundtrack. *facepalm*

He finally manages to corner Peta a week after she starts avoiding him. He literally corners her, which he's fairly certain isn't good for his continuing good health, but which he's also positive is the only way he'll get her to stand still long enough to talk to him.

"No, I will not marry you, Caspian," she snaps before he can say anything. "It's very sweet of you, but the answer is still no."

"I'm not going to ask," he says. "I swear I won't. I just want to know what I've done to offend you, and how I can rectify it."

Peta snorts, unladylike. "One, that would be a very long list, and, two, I really don't think you can."

"Are you certain?" Caspian asks, hurt and confused, because he can't think of anything he's done. He wants to touch Peta, just to get some sense of where she is, but he doesn't, because she hasn't said or done anything to invite the contact.

"Unfortunately," she says, sounding miserable, and Caspian blinks in surprise. She swallows, then looks up at him, her jaw working silently for a moment before she continues, "You're going to ask me to marry you again."

"No, I won't," Caspian says earnestly. "I swore that I wouldn't."

"This is, I'm afraid," Peta says, "the sort of situation where promises like that go out the window."

"I don't understand," Caspian says, because he's more or less learned that that's a good thing to say around Peta or her siblings.

She takes a deep breath. "Ed did say I had to tell you sometime," she mutters under her breath, then she raises her chin and looks him in the eye. "I'm pregnant."

"What?" Caspian says blankly, then he sits down abruptly on the cold stone floor. "What -- how --"

Peta eyes him warily. "If I really have to tell you that, I'm going to start saying rude things about the Telmarine education system again," she says, then sighs and sits down across from him, smoothing out the fabric of her skirts around her as she draws her knees up to her chest. Any other day Caspian would be thinking about the best way to get her up against a wall with those skirts up around her waist, but today -- after what she's just said --

"You're having a baby?" he says; it's the first thing he can think of that isn't either another expression of shock or a marriage proposal.

"No, I'm hoping for puppies," Peta informs him archly. "Barring some kind of horrible miscarriage, yes, I'm having a baby, unfortunately, and yes, before you ask and make me punch you, it's yours."

He hasn't been thinking anything of the sort, and Peta must read the shocked expression on his face, because she snorts and adds, "Well, Edmund asked, and a lot of men would, so you can't blame me for thinking you would too."

"Of course not!" Caspian exclaims, althoughh now he is, worse luck. He's certain Peta hasn't been with anyone except him since she arrived in Narnia, but before that -- she'd been so adamant that there hadn't been anyone before --

"I --" he begins, searching for something else to say. "I'm surprised you're not...angrier."

"Oh, I was," Peta says. "You missed that. You can ask Su or Ed, if you'd like." She rests her elbows on her knees, hands on the back of her head and adds, "It must be killing you not to propose again."

"I said I wouldn't," Caspian says stubbornly, and then he gives up and says, "What are you going to do?"

"I really have no idea," Peta admits. She swallows hard, then says, "Actually, right now I'd really like you to take me to bed."

"Really?" Caspian says, surprised, because he didn't think -- well --

"Yes," Peta says firmly, and leans forward to kiss him, finding his hands with hers and pulling them forward so that his palms are flat over the curve of her ribs.

She tastes like coffee and blueberry pie, and it's as intoxicating as the wine she customarily prefers. He hasn't realized how much he's missed this, how much he's come to take her for granted, until he didn't have her. The thing is -- the thing is that he wants her every day for the rest of his life. He wants her in his bed, and he wants to wake up next to her, and he wants to kiss her and not worry about her brother coming around the corner. He wants her smile and her hands and her sword-arm; he wants her laughter and her anger and her tears and the way she screams when she comes. He wants her. And he'll take her any way she'll let him -- but as the gods witness, he wants this woman more than he's ever wanted anything in his entire life.

"Take me upstairs," Peta orders, pulling back, but her hands are still on his wrists. "Please."

"Anything," Caspian promises.

Peta in his bed is a revelation. He helps her take off her dress, stealing kisses down the curve of her spine as he undoes the laces, then she steps out of it and away from her, taking the bottom of her slip in her hands and pulling it over her head in one smooth motion. She's not wearing anything underneath. Peta catches the front of his unlaced shirt in her hands and pulls him towards her, walking backwards until she can sit down on the side of his bed with Caspian standing between her thighs, cupping her face between his hands as he kisses her.

"Take your clothes off," Peta says softly, lying back across his bed. Caspian obeys, letting them fall heedlessly to the floor, and crawls onto the bed to kiss Peta as she spreads her legs to accommodate him. Today she's carelessly languid, moving against him dreamily when he slides inside her. He catches her wrists in one hand and pins them over her head and Peta smiles at him, wrapping her legs around his hips as he rocks into her. She's unusually quiet, breathy moans and little gasps to her usual cursing, and Caspian takes the unusual opportunity to whisper against her skin, "I love you."

Peta doesn't say anything, but her legs tighten around him. A moment later she comes, crying out at last, and Caspian follows, entranced by the expression on her face. Afterwards, they kiss lazily, Peta's hands sliding up over Caspian's back as he fondles her breasts. He thinks she's finally fallen asleep when he murmurs against the curve of her neck, "Marry me."
Peta's fingers tangle in his hair and for a long moment she doesn't say anything, then she turns her head and catches her mouth with his, a light, brief kiss that's barely more than their lips touching. Caspian looks at her with wide eyes, because she hasn't said anything yet -- and he did promise not to ask again.

"Yes," she says.

(obviously, this will be followed a week later by Peta screaming, "I hate babies, I hate weddings, I hate men, and I HATE YOU. I want a divorce!" "We're not even married yet!" "I'm getting a head start!" while Susan tries to organize the wedding and Caspian and Edmund drink a lot.)

Caspian has a spine, it just keeps getting bent into weird shapes by Peta's acrobatic and interesting...yeah, you know where this is going. *sheepish*

He's actually a surprisingly nice guy, murder attempts in the Warsverse aside.

Yes, he doesn't have that particular benefit when he's faced with Peter rather than Peta.

You know, I could probably work Peter/Caspian/Peta into the story I'm not writing. Er, I mean the plot I'm not writing. We could have Narnia V.3.0 -- 1.0 is canon and 2.0 is the Petaverse, then 3.0 could be, uh, the AU where Caspian wasn't given Susan's horn and has spent the past couple years in hiding with the Narnians, and also, the revolution hasn't begun yet? so Peta and Peter's universe hopping ends them in that Narnia, with a VotDT-age Caspian.

Of course, it would probably break Peta's heart, but still...*frowns*

*points at some comment she made earlier* it FELT to me like Peter and Peta testing each other, trying to find out if Caspian meant more to either of them than the other one did.

It could be! Man, that Caspian's lucky. I'd probably have to set up Peter's past more -- he's Warsverse Peter, obviously, but...er. Not that I'm writing this.

*sigh* And they'd both be going, "God, here we go again, once more with feeling, again with the freaking revolution and the defeating the Telmarines," especially since Peta's basically a sixty-year-old woman in a twenty-year-old body and Peter's a thirty-five-year-old man, likewise. Huh.

It may even be legitimate, since neither one of them is in their Narnia, just a Narnia.

You know, after reading all these, as intriguing and interesting as they are, the only thing I can think of now is:

OMG it's so confusing! I am totally confused with so many Narnias and Caspians and Peter and Peta. *headdesk* If we have a Narnia V.3.0, does that Narnia has her Kings and Queens of Old, too? If she does, shudders

*facepalm*
I like the phrase Caspian says so often more and more:

I don't understand!

V.1.0: Canon. Peter and his siblings go home after putting Caspian on the throne, canon proceeds as, well, canon. (VotDT, SC, and...Last Battle is a destruction myth, so that doesn't happen.)

V.2.0: Petaverse. Aslan never shows up, Peta kills Miraz in the duel, there is a battle that the Narnians only win by benefit of Glozelle surrendering, Sepaspian and about half the army disappear off into the hinterland, the Pevensies stay in Narnia, Peta marries Caspian and has baby Rilian, fast forward, green serpent incident, Susan and Edmund murdered, Lucy killed, Narnia overrun, Caspian throws Peta through the "wardrobe" door in Lantern Waste, Narnia is conquered by the remaining loyal Telmarines.

V.3.0: Cornelius never finds Susan's horn, Caspian ends up with the Narnians, who sortakindamaybeoccasionally trust him, they all live a renegade existence in the woods of Narnia because the kings and queens of old never showed up. (This is probably a Peterverse origin, although not necessarily. Now, either the Pevensies just never came back or this is a 'verse where they all lived to a ripe old age and died in Narnia or it's a 'verse where they really were murdered in the woods, just like Telmarine legend says.)

Does that help?

Yes yes, that helped a lot. I can now get the events more straight. And, write them please? They are so interesting! *puppy eyes*
