The approaching hurricane must be turning my brain. For some reason I want Peter Pevensie/Troy Bolton.

...yeah, leave me to Gustav and get it over with.

In more, uh, relevant news: I'm taking a flight out of New Orleans tomorrow morning for Seattle, with a layover at Houston; if y'all want to see what the Tulane students and faculty saw, go here.

Now, I have to pack and then put the rest of my stuff somewhere relatively safe...

Make sure your windows are sealed and anything valuable is sheltered against water damage. I know water can come in through the smallest opening, or through AC vents, although I don't know how high off the ground your room is.

Anyways, like I said before, be safe, and hopefully it's just a false alarm and the storm passes by.

(Man, I would absolutely love to go through a hurricane again... I love storms, especially powerful ones, but the last hurricane I experienced was Aaron back in the 90s)

haha, I also have fond memories of hurricanes - the last one I got was Floyd.

It was so pretty to watch... and when the eye came - clearest sky I've ever seen!

With hurricanes you know when it's coming, where it's going, and how bad it's gonna be. They happen during a certain season, so you know to be extra prepared. And a storm is beautiful.

I moved out of Florida about a month and a half before Andrew, but I was too young then to really remember it anyways. But I love hurricanes, the swell of the ocean before they hit, the wall of rain and lightning and the gorgeous, gorgeous weather of the eye, even with that eerie feel to it.

Fortunately I still have the boxes I shipped stuff in, and I keep all my plastic bags, so everything's going in there.

You can have this hurricane! Meanwhile, I'll be back in the 'Burg, probably going, "OH MY GOD WHERE IS THE HUMIDITY?"

Back to Ellensburg, yeah. Mandatory evacuation; Tulane doesn't leave anyone behind. If I didn't go home, I'd be going to Jackson with whoever can't go home.
