bedlamsbard: natasha romanoff from the black widow prelude comic (the die hard way (likefluffy))

Have just caught up with the first episode of the new season of The Unit. God, I missed this show. This is my favorite show ever -- and I watch a lot of TV. And y'all know I'm primarily a fantasy and sci-fi type person, and hte majority of shows I watch are crime procedurals, but I love The Unit, and I missed it with an unholy passion. BABY YOU'RE BACK.

Just for reference: Jonas Blaine can out-badass John Winchester, and that's saying something. Also, hearts to Bob, a.k.a. LEGOLAS. Or perhaps QUEEN SUSAN THE NOT-SO-GENTLE. And Grey, what with the black powder. And Mack! Oh, Mack, y'all are so screwed. Ryan, though, you're even more fucking screwed. "If an officer sleeps with a shooter's wife, it's a death sentence." (Paraphrased.) OH MY GOD. This is so not going to end well. Jury's still out on Bridget Sullivan -- I like her, but. Automatic reaction whenever they bring in a new female character. *shrug* I'm glad they're not putting her on the team, though, because that's good for realism. I was worried for a while there. But -- I like her. She can crack jokes with the boys, but at the end of the day, she's a soldier, and a good one. So far, as far as I saw, they aren't treating her like, a, someone who's better, stronger, faster, than the boys, or, b, a delicate flower they're all going to fall in love with, and fall over themselves to protect. I mean, for one, three of the men on the team are married, and while we didn't see Charlie's girlfriend in this ep, unless they've dropped her from the show (and they've dropped a couple other plotlines, but then again, they've also picked them up, and did I mention how much I love this show?), he doesn't seem like the type to stray.

Missed my show so much. I was so not this excited to see any other episode of the new season. I mean, then again, this one's been off the air since the writer's strike, if I remember correctly, and I was panicking because I thought it got cancelled. BUT IT DID NOT.

I have the first two seasons on DVD, but I didn't keep up with the third season. Not for any real reason, just because I would have had to keep up with it via the CW's website, and that was a little too much trouble for me during the school year, when all I want to do is sack out in front of the TV with my notebook or my computer or my knitting. Maybe this season, though. *shrugs*

Just skip ahead to the fourth season, really. I can give you a bullet-point summary of S3 if you'd like- it was really craptastic. Show's back on form now, though. :)

Sure, go for it. A couple of my lurker journals are SPN fannish in nature, so all I know about the third season is "well, Dean was really horrible to women, and then he went to hell." But I've heard the first few eps of S4 have been great.

Uh, lemme think.

1. Sam meets a demon named Ruby who claims that she wants to help him figure out his destiny. She spends most of the season helping the boys kill baddies and trying to get Sam to use his powers. She's shady but cool. No pun inteded! Sam gets a little bit darker this season. (Character development! \0/)

2. Gordon and Hendrickson both die. :(

4. Oh, yeah, there's also a thief named Bella who doesn't really serve any purpose or move the plot along in any meaningful way.

5. Dean goes to Hell.

IMO, the good episodes are: 3.3 Bad Day At Black Rock (mostly because it's funny- JPad has real a talent for slapstick), 3.7 Fresh Blood (Gordon's back!), 3.8 A Very Supernatural Christmas (just what it says on the tin), 3.10 Dream A Little Dream of Me (dreamwalking, and JA gives his usual fantastic performace), 3.12 Jus In Bello (Hendrickson catches up with the boys), 3.13 GhostFacers (A "reality television" episode, parodying Ghost Hunters. It sounds horrible but it was really, really fun), and, uh, that's it. The last episode isn't all that great- all you really need to know is that Dean goes to Hell.

Okay, I knew the rest of that, but not the Gordon and Hendrickson parts. Thanks!
