Oct. 10th, 2008 09:16 pm...and now chatting with
ineptshieldmaid and
realpestilence about Edwina has confused my characterization brain beyond all belief.
It wouldn't be as much of a problem if I hadn't been endgame on Dust 2, which is from Edmund's POV.
I'm just...going to walk away from the computer for a bit until I remember who my characters are.

Date: 2008-10-12 04:02 am (UTC)I really need to have badass Peter some more. Dust. Definitely in Dust. Because he's even less of a nice guy post-WWII than he was during the Golden Age, and that's saying something.
I have to no idea if it's generally known whether or not they're together. I KNOW NOTHING. NOTHING AT ALL.
*eyes Edwina warily* No overwhelming plot arc means no Everse...

Date: 2008-10-12 04:35 am (UTC)Well, it would be an interesting writing exercise, at least, if you did all that. Though I would suggest you stop comparing your characterization with other writers, if it's going to blur *yours*-you say you get derailed enough, just talking about your own characterization, with us. *laughs*
I DO think this Peter is very masculine. He's not tormented, apparently...I think the earth-bond was a great idea and it works for *that* verse, but it's not something that needs to appear in everything-and it *does* alter his behaviour a great deal. If Peter is tougher and more hard-edged, does that mean all of the others have the same story arcs-Susan, distancing herself; Edwin, with the traitor-redemption thing (which doesn't seem to fit her, in this); and Lucy, the religious devotee (again, if she's merrily promiscuous, does that fit?)...what subtle differences in their background would the differences in personality make? What if Peter, or Susan, or Lucy were the traitor, for instance? What if one of the others was the courted-by-kings one? The one who sees Aslan all the time (whether they like it or not, oh noes! THERE HE IS AGAIN!!!)
The X-Men fandom has a challenge they called "powerswap", where you took the same power and story background (how it manifested the first time, their family, etc) and gave it to a different character, and yet kept their same personality. It produced some extremely interesting fics, compared to canon. That's kind of what I'm thinking of, there. Take the same plot elements and shuffle them around and how would each Pevensie have reacted to the situation? *wonders*
I've seen your influence spreading throughout the fandom and it
amuses me. Now, if we could only fix some of the rps, because oh, lord...*facepalms*

Date: 2008-10-12 04:55 am (UTC)I only read two other Narnia writers,
*snaps fingerS* This Peter has three younger sisters, not two. That'd do it, wouldn't it? He always has to be the man of the family, even moreso than in canon, where he can be with Edmund and they can be the boys and so forth. And -- I'm going to go out on a limb here -- while a lot of the Warsverse Golden Age background holds for Peta like it does Warsverse Peter, I don't think it holds for Everse Peter. Huh. I wonder what events it splits at? Or if it goes back to LWW?
...I don't think the White Witch is dead in this 'verse. Don't know why. I just don't think she's dead. Huh. Must muse. (I am not touching LWW with a ten-foot pole, by the way. Although -- I don't know. I was going to say that Lucy might be the traitor in this 'verse, but I don't know. Who knows?)
Oh, I've seen a few of those! I used to prowl around the edge of the X-Men fandom back in the day.
You're kidding me. I have influence?
