Oct. 19th, 2008 10:00 pmCBS is putting the entirety of Jericho online. I may never leave the computer again. (Didn't watch the first season, loved the second season. It hit a disturbing number of my kinks at the time.)
Between that, Roswell on Hulu (just tell me there is Michael/Liz somewhere, guys, I am on episode 5),
lassiterfics telling me to watch Merlin (which looks fascinating), Young Hercules on Hulu (crack! but highly amusing crack. someday, the rest of HtLJ and XWP will be readily available, I hope), the shows I always watch (The Unit, CSI:NY, NCIS, T:SCC, Bones, Numb3rs, SPN, Eureka), the shows I've just gotten into (Life, Fringe), the shows whose premieres I have not yet seen but which seem to hold potential (My Own Worst Enemy, Crusoe), the shows which I have not yet seen period (Babylon 5, Battlestar Galactica, the entirety of Buffy, all of which I know but have not yet seen), and the shows that are on my maybe-so, maybe-no list (The Mentalist and Eleventh Hour -- get your act together, CBS, I am BORED. Snap to it! This last eppie of Eleventh Hour had me going, "what the fuck, I thought this was supposed to be science on the edge). Sanctuary has me dubious too, because I keep going, "Sam, honey, what did you do to your hair? Daniel, I remember you being smarter. Oh, wait, you're not Daniel. NEVER MIND. PLEASE TO BE GETTING BRAINS NOW KTHNXBYE") -- no, seriously, I watch a lot of TV. It soothes me.
*cough* As I was saying. I have figured out why Dust 3 is stalled. Wrong POV. Sorry, Susan, I believe this is Tirian's game, and it looks like he's going to be quoting Narnian lit AGAIN. Between him and Peter (who'd be quoting more western canon if I knew more western canon; like
synecdochic's JD, his brain is where western canon goes to DIE) I am surprised that any of my words come out.

Date: 2008-10-20 12:14 pm (UTC)(mind you, this was like a mate of mine who'd never seen Blackadder. We sat there and gaped. it's impossible to not have seen Blackadder if you're raised in the UK. Mind you, she did come back once she'd watched it and go 'it's really, really scary how much of this has seeped into everyday language.' Rest of us : 'it has?' Her: 'Now that I've seen it, I'm suddenly recognising all these phrases as quotes. It's like the first time you see Hamlet.'
Tirian quoting Narnian lit? I have no problem here. Though. Um. have we had any susan pov at all?

Date: 2008-10-20 01:09 pm (UTC)We had about 2K worth of Susan POV before I went, "this isn't working" and moved it to the dead fic bits file; Dust 3 was supposed to be from her POV.

Date: 2008-10-20 02:27 pm (UTC)...i kind of want a merlin icon, but once i have a merlin icon, i know i've Got It Bad. so i'm going to hold off! even if i, quite possibly, have already Got It Bad.
NARNIAN LIT FTW

Date: 2008-10-20 03:10 pm (UTC)we are WRITING PETER/ARTHUR. that makes it, like, legitimate. (clearly our goal in life is to cross narnia over with everything. who knows what's next!)
i just wrote three paragraphs of caspian's memoirs (DUDE. after caspian died, rilian went though his memoirs and wrote snarky things in the margins. oh, telmarine kings, y'all are so fucked up)! and i am afraid to see what tirian's brain comes up with next.
margin!fic, a new genre
Date: 2008-10-21 01:21 am (UTC)omg peter/arthur, SO. today in my demography class, i was scribbling peter/arthur MARGIN!PORN and trying not to giggle to myself. i mean, good thing i was at the back of the class, i kind of had this shit-eating grin on my face 'cos i was like sleep deprivation + shitload of coffee + margin!fic = HEHEHEHEHEHE. it doesn't help that i have the hugest crush on my professor, who talks only in profanities and non-sequitors, oh man, powder keg of chuckles.
one line of of my actual demography notes reads "it is when control is lacking when you should be most aware of what it is you can't control", which is SO a prompt for porn. as well as a good thing to keep in mind when constructing a quasi-experimental research design. BUT: PORN. more important.
and sometimes when i try to imagine arthur in my head, he shifts into peter. it is too much blond arrogance for me to handle, i explode with delight.
OFF TO TRANSCRIBE
Re: margin!fic, a new genre
Date: 2008-10-21 01:32 am (UTC)maaaaaaaaaaarginfic. (no, actually, i was staring at the subject line in my e-mail and going, "oooh, the margins of history, rock on," and then, "ooh, what, like the notes rilian is writing in the margins of caspian's memoirs?") i have peta/caspian from a couple days ago where peta introduces caspian to narnian dildoes. NO REALLY. and then some peter/arthur.
OBVIOUSLY porn is more important.

Date: 2008-10-21 02:02 am (UTC)"just because you can make people do what you want," said merlin, "doesn't mean you should."
"oh, so you don't want to do this?" grinned arthur.
"it's not about that."
THEN WHAT IS IT ABOUT, MERLIN? i dunno, that's all i got.
i myself am prooooobably going to be drawing out relevant quotes about disenchantment and re-enchantment from weber's "protestant ethic" for our CROSSOVER OF DOOM.
NO NO, THE OTHER CROSSOVER OF DOOM. the one with the pevencest.
NO NO THE OTHER ONE WITH THE PEVENCEST.(no subject)
Date: 2008-10-21 02:06 am (UTC)sooooo...the stardust crossover and not the batman crossover, then? *beams*

Date: 2008-10-21 02:15 am (UTC)i feel we need to put the pevensies in the far future somewhere, get us some multiverse loving in, like, star wars or something. peter and han. because peter and susan really are immortal, and...space pirates! they could be space pirates!

Date: 2008-10-21 02:36 am (UTC)do you know sandman at all? because sandman/narnia would be so ripe for metafiction. and i still think susan/scully is a good idea. or peter/scully, 'cos she reminds him of susan a bit. (on the Narnia's TV Tropes page, susan is linked to a trope called "agent scully", which is HAWESOME.) and lucy/mulder, totally. edmund and skinner rolling their eyes at all the crazy. but you said you're not an x-files person aren't you, PISH POSH TO YOU, 'cos mulder and scully totally need to investigate why peter and susan live forever.
i dunno, my head aSPLODE, brain go boom. PEVENSIES and the notches on their beds, oh man, i cannot cope.

Date: 2008-10-21 02:46 am (UTC)dude. narnia/smallville. peter/lex! lex/susan! clark being jeeeeaaaalous.
i am watching merlin ep 2 and i am all, "dude, where is the fic where peter fights in the tournament at camelot and kicks everyone's butts in approximately two seconds flat?" also, "when do peter and edmund show up? oh, wait."

Date: 2008-10-21 03:04 am (UTC)ARTHUR'S JOUSTING OUTFIT kind of reminds me lots and lots of pete and ed's fighting clothes also.
(no subject)
Date: 2008-10-21 03:07 am (UTC)eh, it's not jousting, jousting has horses. it is just fighting. pete and ed have better armor and shorter tabards and something else significant. have you seen the wardrobe door (http://costumes.narniaweb.com/)? because it is full of the pretty, and also important information on how to take the boys' clothes off.

Date: 2008-10-21 03:22 am (UTC)i've never watched iron man. i've watched the potc movies but was never involved in the fandom, except for reading, like, two fics. but x-men movieverse yes! i wrote a looooot about john, and after that my favorite was rogue. MUTANT PEVENSIES! with SUPERPOWERS.
erik lensherr in the jadis role, OH MAN. xavier in the aslan role. subtextual erik/edmund would kind of be supremely awesome.

Date: 2008-10-21 03:32 am (UTC)i have written in potc and read in xmm. what about, mmm, the mummy? do you know those movies? BECAUSE OH THE CROSSOVERS.

i've watched the first two mummy movies, but didn't even realize there was a fandom. i guess i should've known, what with rachel weisz being a hotass and all.

Date: 2008-10-21 03:46 am (UTC)"THIS IS CALLED A CUPBOARD." for some reason this amuses me highly!
there is a fandom for everything! but alas, i do not know if there is anything in this one. i just bear an unholy love for the mummy 1 & 2; they make me happy. also, i feel that peter would make an excellent rick.

Date: 2008-10-21 03:59 am (UTC)how about that dragon, huh? all like, "THE HEART CANNOT TRULY HATE THAT WHICH MAKES IT WHOLE," i mean wtf, WTF, it's like HEY SLASHERS! OVER HERE! it's like if you build it they will come, but not only did they build it, they also covered it in neon lights and advertised it on craigslist, and food vendors chill out near the entrance.

Date: 2008-10-21 03:47 am (UTC)so many pictures! so pretty! also, the instructions on the putting on and taking off of clothes! because clearly we need to know that. (also the reason why my pevensies suddenly switched from having laces to having buttons in dust. *stares at ceiling* because clearly i fail at GIRL and staring at clothes in movies.)

Date: 2008-10-20 06:45 pm (UTC)Please don't make me choke! I love what you've done so far - Peter just being back, Edmund's horrified realisation that the Narnians had been praying to them.... and now I want Rillian's snarky comments! *snort*
TV watching - oh bliss. I've just started on the whole of Farscape again, and will probably hit Buffy & Angel after that - if my house hasn't sold and I can dig them down from the loft. And oh yes, watch Merlin. It's full of the historical inaccuracies and fudge-ups I usually hate, but I just love it. Don't know why, don't care. Just do. Anthony Head & Richard Wilson are fantastic in it, you end up cheering for Arthur/Merlin, and yeah... I'm hooked.
*sits patiently and waits for Tirian*
